My 1941 Ford isn't running right

I had the same problem once, turned out the spring tension of the points was just old and tired. Causing them to float at high rpms. New points fixed the problem.

    59ab compression numbers

Yeah, she’s running well now that I’ve fixed the fuel problem. I dare say it has more power now than when I first put it together. Wonder if it’s always been plugged a little and just continued to get worse.

    59ab compression numbers

After lots of troubleshooting i finally found the problem. Shutoff valve on the bottom of the tank was full of crap. Bouncing are just right would cause it to plug. Fuel pressure gauge would have made it quicker to find.

    59ab compression numbers

I saved my old one, it actually has ford imprinted in the casing. It tested ok? I also have another new Echlin in the box. Maybe I shouldnt have replaced both the coil and condenser at the same time. Maybe I swapped one problem for another. Hard to say... It's almost a good thing that its...

    59ab compression numbers

Napa Coil IC7 oil filled, I believe I left the resistor in under the dash. And measured 4.5 volts at the coil. Also replaced the condenser with one from Napa. I can check voltage again and try another condenser. I believe I could take out the resistor, but that the coil would just run...

    59ab compression numbers

I've replaced coil, condenser and points. Condenser and coil tested ok with but i tried it anyways. Not that its not possible one of the new parts isnt bad. I was nervous about the compression numbers. I didnt want to keep chasing parts if the problem was in the engine. Which is why I...

    59ab compression numbers

I took a look at your post, I think we may have different issues. But im going to keep an eye out on your thread to see how it goes. Here are my plugs, I've actually wondered if im running lean. I'm going to try the 2 fingers over the carb @ 1200 rpm trick. I've seen comments by folks that...

    59ab compression numbers

Just looking for some confirmation on my thinking. From reading a bunch of threads I "think" i have a good idea on whats going on. My last trip last fall ended up coming home on a flatbed. Started running really rough, couldnt get it started again after i stopped. Of course it was dark and...

    46 Ford pickup gas tank

I was not able to find anyone that made replacement tanks for the 42-47 truck years. Hopefully you have better luck. What I did learn was that a lot of radiator shops boil gas tanks and seal them. I was able to save my tank thankfully. Is your tank super rusty on the outside? Or just full...

ECH IC7 6 volt coil and 6 volt system

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll leave the resistor in and do some driving.

ECH IC7 6 volt coil and 6 volt system

I wondered that too, current pace is under 300 miles a year.

ECH IC7 6 volt coil and 6 volt system

So I’ve read to many posts and I’m getting confused. Stock 6 volt system with crab distributor. ECH ic7 6 volt coil with 1.2 ohms resistance. Bypass the resistor under the dash? Or is that not enough resistance? Seems like the resistor under the dash is .6 ohms. And just to be clear, the...

    6 volt ignition parts

How do tell the originals? They stamped with Ford?

    6 volt ignition parts

Is it worth having the old coils rebuilt? Didn’t know that was even a thing.

    6 volt ignition parts

I'm sure everyone has their own opinion. But looking for recommendations on where to buy replacement ignition parts. 6 volt Coil, points and condenser etc.... Is it worth buying a coil with a little more zap? This is for a stock 59ab

    Interior kick plates

Thanks for all the ideas folks.

    Interior kick plates

Hmm.... Maybe Luan plywood would be better. Forgot about that stuff.

    Interior kick plates

rhino liner is a good idea, I was thinking about using 1/8 hardboard. But that would fall apart if it got wet.

    Interior kick plates

I need to make new interior kick plates for my 42. The original stuff is almost like dense oily cardboard with some sort of vinyl layer. Just wondering what other folks have used? I think it needs to be somewhat flexible and water resistant. I'm sure at some point it could get water on it...

    Airtex E8902

Well... answered my own question. Airtex was bought by someone else and the internals of the pump are different now. Sounds like at some point they want to switch back. He didnt sound like thats going to happen for awhile, if ever.
