    ring gear slipping off

I have a 30 Tudor. Ring gear keeps slipping forward to the point that starter cant engage. I remove starter, tap ring gear back into place but eventually happens again. I tried using LockTite to see if it would hold the gear in place but that does not work. Im assuming i need to do something...

    Original pop out ignition switch

I would like to have the original pop out key switch repaired. I recall an old post recommending someone who repairs these but I can't find the post. Any recommendations for someone to do this work would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it a try tomorrow

    Brake adjust now no spark

I adjusted brakes using the method in Les Andrews with the board to hold brake pedal at varying positions. I have tried this twice (I think the brakes need to be re-done) but each time the electrics stop making spark. There is voltage up to coil. I took dash off thinking there was short at...

Thanks. You are probably correct on both points

Is it necessary to remove and replace roof when replacing the headliner?

    "Correct" interior

1930 Tudor. How can I find out the original interior. I think I have a standard. There are no curtains. Thought they all had a rear window curtain/shade. Floor is rubber. Was carpet the original? I need a new headliner. Was just curious as to what the original layout would have been. Thanks!

    Still no spark

well in retrospect, i wonder if the grounding at the distributer was the issue all along. Or at least a ground issue of some kind Basically I changed the coil and condenser and it is running again. I learned a lot. I ended up testing the old coil and condesner on my workbench (one of the...

    Still no spark

Success! I backed the cable out from the lower distributor as Bill Williamson suggested. I guess it was grounding out there. Go figure.

    Still no spark

update. I checked the coil/condenser on bench top and get spark Also put the "spark polarity" tester in line and it indicated spark and correct polarity. So I guess if ignition system works on bench; and every thing through starter up to points is working on car does this mean there is a short...

    Still no spark

1930 Tudor Engine cranks when I attempt to start but still no spark. Followed Les Andrews diagnostics for ignition system I bypassed ignition switch since it is broken. Using "emergency ignition jumper" available at Snyder. I measure 6 volts at point when opened. To me this means primary...

    no spark

Mike V, Thanks so much. I think I have dome much of what you suggest. Until last night when I broke the ignition switch ("mad face emoji"), it was working. When "on" there was voltage of 6 through out terminal block up to the open point arm. With point arm closed, it was grounded and voltage...

    no spark

1930 Tudor. No spark. Engine will crank with attempted ignition start but not turnover. Ive tried hand cranking but that has not worked (Although, even when the car was in running condition, I could never hand crank the car so this does not mean much for this current problem) Went through Les...

    starter/Bendix/Flywheel?

I will try that. I did use the hand crank thinking that would move the ring gear relative to the Bendix pinion gear. I guess my thinking is wrong??

    starter/Bendix/Flywheel?

1930 Tudor Would not start. Sounded like starter motor was spinning rapidly without any engagement between starter/Bendix and flywheel. Thought Bendix was bad so replaced. Same issue. Seems like the Bendix drive assembly is not engaging the flywheel. Is there a way I can see the flywheel...

    starter problems

Im relatively new to the Model A and not much of a mechanic however I am learning and enjoying. Tried starting the car the other day. It turned over a few times somewhat reluctantly in the Michigan 15 degree morning. Then the starter begin to "whir" at what sounds like a fast rate but no...
