Rings have a lot of drag, seems too much

A friend and I are putting together two model A motors. Both of us using Hasting rings. Both motors seem to have a lot of ring drag. We checked ring gap in cylinders before installing, rod bearing and main bearing clearances are fine. But they both turn over really hard. Haven't yet checked how...

Does anyone know the spring seat pressure with new modern valves springs verses original valve springs? They are about 1/8" longer and wider diameter so was wondering if the seat pressure would be much greater than original springs. It would seem more spring pressure it would be harder on cam...

Setting the Preload on the pinion bearings

mrraford, what I have is if your using used bearings the preload would be between 12 to 15 in. lbs.torque which would be 4.5 to 5.5 lbs on a spring scale (fish scale). Hanging wt. would be the same. On new bearings 20 in. lbs.torque or 7.5 lbs. on spring scale. I used a in.lb. torque wrench and...

    Adjustable seat

I believe the 31 s/w fordor has the most leg room. That's one reason I picked one up to restore. I am 6'2, both knees and right hip replaced. Needed more room. I had a 30 coupe and that wasn't bad but getting in a s/w fordor is much better
