I think what im going to start doing is searching ebay for as many origonal missing sheetmetal parts as i can and just stock piling them over the summer and fall and maybe starting the tearmdown in the spring might buy new subrails asit seems like origonal subrails are always pretty toasted.

So i have a 28 roadster pickup that started life as a 5 window coupe that was rolled down a mountin in 36’ the origonal owner cut off everything from the windsheld back leaving the cowl and subrails then he cobbled and tack welded roadster pickup parts on and had an old wood dump bed and he used...

Im currently doing a "cleaning" just finishing up after two weeks. I first filled my system with degreaser and ran that until hot and let cool and repeated about 5 times a day for 2 days. i drained it into a bucket and it came out black black black and slightly thick. Then i filled the...

1) Not realizing the gas gauge came out by unscrewing the bezel and prying and ruining a mint tank 2) Not realizing Model As have a different pitch thread then modern bolts and tapping the top of my autolight heater 3) Probably the worst taking a whole bunch of extra parts to the flee market to...

This is more involved than you guys are laying down. I was in my 78 cj7 in New Orleans last year crossing an intersection when i was T-boned by a Off duty officer in her Chevy Malibu patrol car at 60mph. I never wear a seat belt actually i only even have them in to pass inspection and their...

I turn mine off to work on my carburetor, clean out my sediment bowl or clean out the screen in the the carburetor. I have also turned it off once or twice if i knew i wasent going to be driving it for a while but usually i never turn it off and never once have ever had it leak a drop and it...

I think ill be starting a full restore by winter on the old girl. I have just about everything up to snuff except for a clogged radiator. yesterday i realized she was over heating and went to unscrew the cap and got a 15' steam / water geyser roasted my arm and face feels great! The damned...

HAHAHA i totally agree except i was in New Orleans during mardi-gras. was hit by an off duty cp in an under cover Chevy Malibu cruzer going 60 in a school zone blowing though a stop sign after picking her 6 year old up from kinder-garden.

I haven't posted in years, but probably 8 years ago i started driving my 28 RPU as my Daily Driver and did so for about 4 years exclusively. I stopped for two reasons 1) i finished my cj7 restore and 2) my front end was very badly worn out and needed rebuilding. Last year i rebuilt my front end...

Brent, I understand your point you obviously do far more model As than I work on. I just know from my own experance that changing oil regularly and greaseing vehicles keeps them going longer. I work on enough cars /trucks and keep my fleet here at the shop on a regular scedual and those old...

I don't really buy the whole theory that no one regularly greases there model As. I feel like most of Guys today do; maybe not there modern vehicles, but there beloved as they do. I am actually one of those loonys who probably greases to much, my 85 cj7 and my A get greased every Sunday no...

See most are not putting as many miles on there cars as when they were new, I do I drove mine as my only means of trasportation for 4 years 150+ miles a day. And when she's back to 100% I plan on doing so again so anything I can add grease fittings to I want to. My a has been out driving around...

Grease fitting installed (first photo upload for me ever I think)

I think I picked. Ip coveralls up at sears and one pair at Kmart (maybe the answer for the less moblie is sippers down side of them like a pair of chaps I had a pair like that made up after a bad injery and numerous surgeries that really helped it took 5 years to finally be able to put my left...

So I'd like to compile a small list of places were there are no grease fittings and probably really should be and reasons why or why not. Clutch release shaft, seems like there should be a grease fitting on eaither side of shaft on bottom of bell housing?? Break cross shaft Ebrake shaft? The...

Not in summer I don't! Biggest problem with pants under Coveralls is when the explosive need run full steam to The crapper hits and you know you must try to unhook while you run so by the time you get there it's not to late.....

Better shape than mine was in!! Atlease I didn't need to dig it out of scrap just had to Waite for the frozen block of ice it was invcased in to melt (took two months to melt btw) hahaha

Carhart coveralls. I built a special hat Rack for The garage and have a ritual; walk in, fedora drops on hook, next is vest and watch, revolver pops on shelf next to anything in pockets, coveralls go on and baseball cap with led lights built into the brim go on next and I'm set to go. One...

An expert is just one who stepped up any tryed it himself and who after trying at it became good at it if you have a 20 ton press I think you can save yourself some shipping cost. Remember Andrew Carnegie knew nothing about steel when he set out to build the first all steel rail road bridge.

What you have to rember about this was most soldgers are just 18 year old kids and men don't truly stop growing till around 22 and even then there are changes my gandfarther would never fit into his uniform now his shoulders are too broad and he is to tall and he's 92
