    finish wood spoked

I recommend staining the spokes any shade or color that pleases you first, followed by two coats of of clear high gloss exterior spar (oil base) varnish. Try to find some hickory material to make samples first. Stained spokes will maintain their appearance much longer than a clear finish.

My tow bar bracket setup on bumper

I tie off my steering wheel with bungee cords with equal tension right and left. This provides tension to return the wheels to the straight position. Also never tow by the bumper brackets without the bumper in place or with a substitute cross member.

They came from a legitimate supplier that many that has many satisfied customers. I don't believe in bad mouthing a company for one mistake.

    Model T plans??

I've played with making them myself. Unless you have some sophisticated equipment and intend to make a large volume of them, it is too labor intensive to be practical. Perhaps you can find an Amish wheelwright down under. Is hickory wood available at reasonable cost at your location or...

    Model T plans??

Redmodelt. I'm not interested in making spokes. I've had one bad experience in purchasing them. They were 3/16" too long and I wasn't about to modify them. The supplier resisted my returning them for credit. (plus I had to pay for return shipping) I want to be able to give any supplier the...

Back in April of this year I asked Ford Barners to help me locate an old design front brake floaters. I had a great response from the group, especially Purdy Swoft. While Specialty Ford Parts is no longer making them, Jim Gordon was able to locate enough old parts (and made a few new ones) to...

The only bad question is the one you didn't ask. Keep 'em coming. We don't pretend, as individuals, to know everything, but as group we can solve almost any problem you can throw at us.

    Spokes

As long as you are taking a close look at your wheels, there are a couple of other things to check out. With the full weight of the car on the wheels, examine the spoke in the 12 o'clock position. If there is any gap at all between the felloe and the end of the spoke your spokes are wearing...

    Front hub Assembly question

Greg - a word of caution. New spokes do not always fit. Last year I had a set from a reputable supplier that found each spoke 3/16 " too long. Another set I received from a AAA vender was too wide at the arrow head end. Neither set was usable as I received them. I modified the second set and...

    Front hub Assembly question

The outside flange is a separate piece. Use penetrating between it and the hub. Then using a blunt ended punch through the bolt holes tap the outer flange off the hub. What are your plans for re-spoking the wheel?
