Alcohol is an excellent solvent for the interlayer in laminated safety glass - water is not. Mike

I'm in north-central Ct-town of Somers, between Enfield and Stafford Springs. Mike

Deny, I got my electronic flasher from LEDlight.com. Their stock number is 84787. I don't know if they ship to Canada. Mike

Thanks jw for your prompt reply. How is rain prevented from entering the door cavity? Mike

Would someone please tell me what is used as an outside seal between the bottom edge of the door opening and the roll-up glass. I can't find any information in my restoration books or in the suppliers' catalogs. The car is a 1930 coupe. Thanks, Mike

Thanks to all who replied. My car is a '30 deluxe coupe. There are no nuts involved; just holes in the metal. Mike

Good Evening, Could someone please tell me what kind of screws are used to fasten the interior kick panels at the cowl - machine screws or sheet-metal type. My holes got painted and I don't want to ruin them if they are threaded. Thanks, Mike

John and Big hammer, Thank you much for your prompt responses. Mike

While troubleshooting why my '30 Coupe suddenly stopped running when idling, I noticed a dark black spot in the distributor rotor where it contacts the carbon button in the cap. I suspected arcing, but the spot polished off using Scotchbrite and there were no signs of arcing. The carbon button...

I expect that this post might p-off some Barners because of the extensive discussion of the subject on this site but I am very reluctant to hammer on the rear axle or on a puller. It seems to me that there must be some impact (pun intended) on the differential components from hammering on the...

I would like to begin this post by thanking all the forum members who have shared their knowledge over the years. Having no training as a mechanic, I could not have accomplished what I have on my Model A without the help of this forum. That said, I am asking for the members to share their...

My 1930 Coupe did not have a windshield wiper motor when I got it. I recently bought a restored vacuum wiper motor, which the Judging Standards say my car should have. The holes in my windshield frame do not match the mounting holes on the motor. Not having dimensions for either type, I'm...

Thanks for your response, Ryan. I was thinking of all new handles/cranks in butler nickel as my car has a mismatched set of plain and scroll, repro and (original?) Mike

Does anyone know of a source for Butler Nickel Interior door handles and window cranks? Thanks, Mike

Can anyone please tell me the Model A color name for DuPont color code DS091. I don't find that code in any of the searches that I've done. I'm told that it is a code for DuPont Spectra paint, if that is of any significance. Thanks, Mike

700rpm, thanks for your reply and interest in helping. I took a photo of the two different bars and the differences did not show up well. Only by comparing measurements could the differences really be detected. I didn't realize that I had a "wrong" bar until I tried to fit it on the car.

Good evening. I have a headlight bar that I would like to pass-on to someone who can use it, but I don't know what it fits. It was sold to me as being for a 1930-31 Model A, but it doesn't fit my '30 Coupe. It is about 5/8 inch shorter than a a bar that fits my A. It has a slightly different...

I ran into the same issue. When I bought my '30 coupe it had what I was later told was an early '30's bar - inverted U-shaped center section. It had been repaired by brazing in at least two places and was held together with a hose clamp when I got the car. I later bought what I was told was a...

Hi Del, I think that over-tightening of the nut on the stud was a contributing cause of the failure. In fact, I detected the insulator breakdown by loosening the nut while an ohmmeter was connected across the opened points. The short changed to an open circuit as I loosened the nut. Mike

Good evening, Being a newbie I'm not able to offer much in exchange for all the good advice that I have received from this forum, but sharing a recent experience may help someone. My A wouldn't start after refueling. It had been driven less than a mile to the gas station and ran fine. The...
