From all I see it appears that my engine number must have been restamped by a rebuilder or someone for whatever reason at the time because my number would make it a truck built on October 21 1929 but the weird part is as you say too many digits and EVEN with CA2505601 I see no way it could...

thanx for the quick answer newshirt.,.with the CAXXXX was it in fact made in Canada on that date?

I have a 1929 CCPU and number stamped on block is CA2505601...as best I can tell it was made in Canada in October 1929 but seems I get conflicting data...can anyone confirm or conflict with what I see as being correct from what I have found?Any feedback is most certainly welcomed!

It seems that from all my digging on posts that there should be an emergency brake carrier and linings on my 29 CCPU but I see no evidence that there is such an animal! It simply has the service brake shoes...no emergency brake shoes or even carrier for them on the rear of my truck. Is this...

Thanx for the reply Mval..would sure appreciate the drawings so I can get some decent perspective when I start on rebuilding the box.Email for attachment is fadams61@eastex.net TIA for your help Fred

Thanx for the reply Barb...any dimensions you can provide would be helpful...took a closer look at the box yesterday and see the metal of the bed floor was originally riveted in so I have a lot of rivets to take out!Ford sure was big on using rivets on these A's.Once I get that rotten metal out...

I have a 31 wide bed box thats in need of restoration...the sides and ends are in pretty good shape but bed metal and wooden subfloor are pretty rough...cant seem to find any info on rebuilding the 31 box...measurements of wood as well as sills and the metal floor itself..hard to tell til after...

Good evening Rusty...have started putting cab together on the 29 CCPU and find large gaps between door bottoms and subrail...a straight edge on the subrail step just below its 2 inch wide top area shows subrail to be straight on both driver and passenger side in the area the door bottom should...

Well Rusty..must be nice to have all that free time in retirement..congrats!!On the issue of Howells parts from all i read on the forums it appears that they make most of the sheetmetal parts made regardless of the supplier they are bought from so I just decided to save the difference buy buying...

Thanx Bob..just this AM a guy I know that used to work at a body shop offered a loan of a hole punch...might give it a try on test stuff. On the bolts I'm not concerned about judging standards for this truck so I will use the garden variety 1/4 20s and call it good Fred

Rusty ..I have another question...bear with me as time goes by I'll have plenty.I have repro cab corners as well as upper/lower back panels from Howells...the cab corners are nicely drilled but nothing else is drilled to match so I'll need to carefully hand drill the back panels and T rails to...

Good to meet you ORA...I kinda thought about doing that...but you're comment has my mind made up..that mess is just in my way anyhow but being new to rebuilding Model A's I wondered if any of it was somehow needed...the truck has a 31 bed that was mounted on it before I started the teardown...

Thanx for the info Rusty..since I'm dealing with cracked metal I assume that a crack stop hole of maybe 1/8 inch would need to be drilled at end of the crack as well as V ing the area.Let me know if I'm wrong on that BTW.Also seems to me that in order to have a solid repair it should be mig...

GM Dave..that sounds like an excellent idea...will sure give that a try.I have another issue that you might advise me on that I discovered yesterday.I pulled the spoke wheels to get them ready to be powdercoated next week and found 3 of the 4 have a crack in them...there are 2 cracks on one of...

GM guys...gonna see if I have any better success posting a good picture...this one shows what I mentioned about rough body mounted on a fairly new looking frame...BTW on the left is a shot of our 1955 Packard and in upper right you can see a bit of our 1936 Hudson Terraplane..the truck needs a...

Rusty nor any others..I .am not familiar with the interface to post pictures like the ones in your post on the shims/blocks...I made an attempt to post a picture but it only came across as a link and the link was to only a thumbnail instead of the larger screen beauties you posted,...what do I...

Well Bob and others..bear with me please...am making first attempt to post a picture of what I mentioned about the frame looking basically new as well as torque tube, rear end and rear cross member.Still got a bit to learn on the fordbarn interface...

Good to meet you Bob..oddly enough the frame looks like its practically new...once I pulled the rear cab parts and the bed I was amazed to see a frame that was neatly painted silver color with very little dust and almost no grease or oil filming at all!I get the feeling this frame was not the...

Glad to meet you pooch...I have to agree that the table saw could be very dangerous...your idea on the angle grinder with thin cutoff wheel just might be a do tho for the straight line cuts as long as its well secured to work eurface..thanx for the ideas ...you guys are great...really helpful...
