    1936 Ford flathead advice needed..Part 2

Try a wet compression test. Just squirt a spoon full of motor oil in spark plug hole before doing test. This will temporally seal piston rings that may be the problem.

The bars are the same. Only the bracket is different. The 4 hole style is 1940 Ford and Mercury. The other bracket with an oval hole and 2 round holes is 1941 Ford and Mercury.

1935 Ford Pickup Rear Axle Support

I have seen many of these on farm trucks. The purpose was to increase the load capacity so the owner could haul more weight. I think most of these caused early failure due to the abuse they encouraged.

Can a 1940 Frame be used for a 1936 Cabriolet??

Only if you are building a rod. There are many differences from 1936 to 1940 but the overall size is the same. I have a pair of the cowl support brackets you mentioned that came out of a 1940.

Really cool cab over - Any cabs barner's to share yours?

I have a fondness for the COE. My collection includes a 1939 101" dump, 1940 with a 5th wheel, 1941 Holmes twin boom wrecker, 1947 stake bed. I also have a nice pair of the rear dual wheel fenders.

    40 fuel line

Reading the original question from Kurt V, I think he wants to remove the line that is inside of the tank. The answer should be NO. The pick-up tube is riveted and soldered to the tank and is difficult to repair even after the tank has been removed.

    1947 Pedal Assembly

No pins were used on 1947. Shaft is a tight press fit. You will probably need to remove the complete assembly to use a press.

Waking up a Sleeping Beauty, 1934 5 window

I had the same problem on a 1934 pickup. Every thing on a pickup is the same as a car except the pitman arm. Because the column is tilted higher to fit the truck cab the splines in the pitman are clocked one tooth. Most pitman arms have a part number on them. Prefix 40- is car 46- is pickup...

1941 V8 appears to start but won't run

Sounds like you have the electrical systems fixed. Tell us about the fuel. Are you choking/priming it to get the results you describe. May be not enough gas available in the carb to keep it running.

39 1 Ton headlight bezel question

What I see in your pictures is a 1939 truck bucket with an aftermarket sealed beam conversion kit. Original head lights on 1939 did NOT have sealed beam bulbs. Sealed beams were first used in 1940. Owners wanted to have "state of the art" lights and bought a kit to update the truck. Kinda like...

    Identify gauges perhaps?

The cowl loom in a 1940 pickup 01C-14401-B had to be changed in 1941 11C-14401-B because 1940 had voltmeters and 1941 had ammeters. See page 577 in the green book. Page 490 shows 1940 has 01A-10844-B battery charge indicator (voltmeter) and 1941 has 11C-10850-A ammeter assembly. This is one of...

A true 1940 pickup cab is 1 year only. 1940 big truck had fuel tank in floor. 1941 had changes in the firewall , dash , floor and roof seam. 1942 had many changes , cowl sides, mounting bolt locations, fuel tank in floor, seat spring attachment. But YES they are BASICKLY the same. Is this a...
