    Slippery when white

Studded tires have been banned in many states cause they tore up the road. Never saw chains outlawed. Have been places where chains were required especially in Washington state.

    Slippery when white

Depending on where you are in the USA ,you can buy chains at Tractor Supply,Les Schwab tire stores, and Sears. Probably at the other major tire dealers. The big thing I've found with chains is put them on tight and GO SLOW. Hope this helps, Kenny

    model a boat motors

Thank you all for your answers and pictures! I expect that a lot of model a engines were used on generators and irrigation pumps as they became junk yard cheap. I'll have to check out that marine conversion next time I'm up at the Gilmore. Love to hear that Y block run sometime. Airplanes are as...

    model a boat motors

I've seen model a engines used in airplanes and compressors. I read about them being converted for marine use but don't have any details. It seems like these motors were adapted for many more uses than just cars. I'm hoping some of our members here can help me out with pictures or suggestions...

    book recommendations please

Is there a book out there with good pictures of all the different body styles? I'm looking for something like an id/spotters guide so I know what I'm looking at as I wander around the show grounds. Thanks, Kenny

Pacemakers and Model A ignition systems

I say more power to anyone with a pacemaker or any other replacement parts who still wants to drive their A. This is a legitimate question and deserves the straight answers he's gotten. I have a friend who had to drop a TIG class when he got his pacemaker, the doctor just wasn't comfortable...

I got a price quote on the Scat crankshaft. $1800+ shipping+4-6 weeks production time. Too rich for my blood. Kenny

The Winter and a Model A

He's right. Use a battery tender rather than a charger.

    frame difference 28/29 to 30/31?

Looks like I might need a better frame for my project, the one I've got is bent all along the right side and the front crossmember is welded in. Are there any differences between the years or can I use whatever I can get? This is supposedly a 31vicky, but all I've got to prove that was one...

The Winter and a Model A

I would suggest keeping a trickle charger on the battery.

    oil filter kits

I'm starting a total rebuild on my 31 engine and I plan on adding an oil filter. What can you guys tell me about the different kits the vendors sell? Are they worth putting on? Thanks, Kenny

    basic engine questions

I plan to drive it a lot. Hot tank in prep for precision measurements and magnaflux. I'll check the bearings for color and softness, then report back. Thanks, Kenny

    basic engine questions

I plan to drive it a lot as a replacement for my big Harley. I do plan on a total rebuild, just haven't found someone local to handle the Babbitt yet. I wanted to have the block hot tanked so it's clean enough to measure and Magnavox. I will definitely check the bearings for color and soft...

    basic engine questions

Thanks Dave, that opening kind of looks like a picture window blown out by a tornado, and I was afraid that the hot tank would destroy the bearings. I'll ask the shop what they use. Thanks again,Kenny
