Are the gas tanks the same from 28/29 to 30/31? Also, are the coupe tanks any different than the PU tanks?

I could be very wrong but I always thought the '28-'29's had a screw on cap and the '30/'31's had a 1/4 turn cap.

I had thought that Coupe doors could be used on a Pickup but now I can't remember where/when I heard that! Will they? Sorry, gettin' old I guess!

Afordman31, thank you so much for posting those instructions! I bought two sets of bushings so if I screw the first set up I can determine if I want to take what I've learned and try it on the second set or... bite the bullet and have a machine shop hone them!

I have a '28 Roadster and while I love the car, I actually prefer the '30-'31's. Not only are they a little bigger inside, the windshield stantions are a bit nicer. Overall just a bit more "elegant" car. IMHO.

All, if you want the plates to look good there is no way around hand lettering. That being said, masking them off is probably the best bet if you don't want to hand letter. Just take your time and use a VERY good tape made for paint otherwise the paint will wick under the tape and look bad...

Actually the black deposits are carbon from the steel. You should be able to just wipe it off.
