Hi, In terms of rubber window seals that are exposed to the suns UV radiation. Is there a way to do a long term protection of installed and exposed rubber seals? Currently I have some rubber seals that are 40 years old and I would like them to last another 40 years without them cracking and...

Hi, I'm at a point in life where I have the possibility to do something entirely new in terms of occupation. I have had, and still have many hobbies and a few years back I even restored a Model A. I'm a mechanical engineer but I've run away from corporate lifestyle since it gets worse year by...

I had a look at the truck for sale today. We fired the engine up, A 10 feet test drive but nothing more on the public road. Everything was OK besides: 1. Carburettor was leaking heavily during operation. Fuel all over the inlet manifold. It stopped as soon as the engine was shut off. The...

A bit off topic: Did the Ford V8 1-1/2 ton truck also come in a version looking like this with a canvas cover and can anyone link to some pictures? Lucas

I have talked to the seller and can confirm the truck was imported from USA to Europe 30 years ago. It is not a European version. From looking at the pictures I can see that the car has the early V8 engine with the water hoses mounted on the front of the engine. It also still has the 6V system...

Sounds a bit too easy :-) So the V8 engine does not have the crankshaft rear main sealing problems as the Model A?

Hi, I have the opportunity to have a look at a 1936 Ford V8 1-1/2 ton pickup which is for sale. According to the seller the car is in a operating condition with engine running, steering and brakes OK, however in a miserable condition otherwise. Can anyone give me some tips on what to look for...

Hi, I never forgot my original project of driving Model A or maybe a V8 across USA. But there were a lot of obstacles paperwise since I am from Europe. What is the chance of finding a person who wants his car shipped from the east coast to the west coast (not the other way around), and instead...

I see that as an opportunity to those young people who are not addicted. Competition will be lower because of the addiction. But admitted, those who are not addicted make up maybe 5%. Overall when people are addicted to their phones, they cannot create added value in society which is bad.

Hi, A very off topic discussion. What would you do job-vise if you could choose all over again - or did you choose the right career right from the beginning? I would change all over again and do something with wood - however I cannot specifically give an exact job description at the moment...

Hi, With reference to one of my posts: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164459 and some of my problems http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176027 I have decided to cancel the trip and sell the car. I have tried everything possible, but I cannot get rid of the smell...

Yes and I am about to quit if I cant solve that smell problem very fast. Lucas

I do not fully agree on that. The government regulations play a part, but in my view a minor one. Most paper work is self inflicted. For instance many corporations use the Six Sigma: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Sigma The man power spent to follow such systems is astronomic. Small...

I need to pick up this thread again: The plan is to do the cross country trip coast to coast in mid august and onwards. Thus, I need to make the arrangements with the shipping company very soon (shipping car from Denmark to New York). The following has been changed: 1. The oil filler cap has...

I totally agree!! But how did they manage back then with so few paper shufflers?????

Hi, I am very much amazed by how businesses were run in the US in the first half of the last century. To name a few: The P51 Mustang was designed in some 120 days. The B24 Liberator was designed in some 2 weeks (only the mockup). Then the Willow Run Manufacturing plant built about 1 aircraft...

Hi, Is it possible to install some sort of anti puncture tire liners on the inside of the tire? These are common as after market liners for bicycles and they should work very well. Lucas

Hi, As some of you might know, I am planning a cross country trip in my Ford Model A. It will be shipped from Europe to New York, I will drive it across following the historic Lincoln Highway and then sell it somewhere on the Westcoast - probably using ebay because I have to go back home and...

I need to roughly plan my return ticket.
