I recently had the radiator of my 1951 V8 Ford recored...yes there are shops that still do that. It cost a bit more then the new Shoebox Central radiator, but the peace of mind that it was sure to fit the car it came out of was worth it.

I used No-Rosion cooling system cleaner and No-Rosion coolant additive with demineralized water in our 1957 Thundebird. It really helped.

At this late date, I am unable to prove that there were aftermarket adapters, but I'm pretty sure that J.C Whitney, Warsharsky, and Honest Charley sold late Ford flathead to early ford transmission adapters.
