what do you collect of parts ...and how many?

When I first started in this hobby, I could not understand why someone would spend the time or money on old parts when there are parts stores full of shiny new reproduction parts. Then I started buying some of those parts . . . Now I fully understand collecting quality original pieces...

    Vibration / Under powered

Well, we re-timed the Town Sedan today before the football game started and were able to get some positive results. We followed Marco's instructions to the letter, it ran much smoother and we picked up a little speed. It still has the vibration, although some what reduced. I'm sure that the...

    Vibration / Under powered

Newshirt I did get a little bit of forward and aft movement out of the distributor. There was no movement side to side at all. And it was the whole distributor moving not just the cam. I'll be checking that out today. Thanks for the help. Chris

    Vibration / Under powered

Thanks for all the quick replies. 2manycars, thanks for the response about it being normal. I am going to arrange a ride in another "A" to listen to that noise and see how many other things I worry about are normal for the old car. I am going over to my Dad's house and will listen carefully...

    Vibration / Under powered

Let me begin by saying that I know there are multiple answers for my questions and diagnosing a problem such as this with out putting hands on the car is difficult at best. I have my ideas about what is wrong, however, I am sure that the collective knowledge and experience of the Ford Barn...

    Engine install

If at all possible, put them in as a unit. You will be able to a better job on the "workbench" than wrestling with the transmission under the car. Then you can slide the rear end under the car, hook everything up and go for a ride! Wait to put the fluids in so they don't cause a problem when...

    My first shakedown cruise!

Congratulations Terry! The picture is of my first ride in our 30' coupe. I think I still have that same silly grim on my face today! Check out the interior, or lack of it. No top, no lights (at night), I didn't care. That first ride was great! Chris

    1930 front fender installation questions

It can be done by carefully using an engine hoist to lift one side of the body at a time, then slide the splash aprons in. Be very careful when lifting the second side as to not damage the installed side. As for putting the fenders on be sure to bolt on the fender supports and light bar...

    Going Back Together!

This is the first trial fit of the new sub-rail extensions for our 30 Coupe. The nose of the new piece is not shaped exactly like the original where it meets the firewall, so it will take a little work to get them to fit properly. However, things are going back together, and that is a step...

    The Brake Debate

My Dad and I just adjusted the brakes on our town sedan last week and we started by adjusting the brake rods to eliminate any slop. Then we used the brake tool to adjust the wedges as described in Les Andrews' book. I don't see how you can adjust the brakes without adjusting the wedges. Chris
