Today I extended the shifting rod another 1/4 inch for third and second gear. Then drove it up and down hills, braking a lot and in start and stop traffic in town. So far it has not disengaged again. Got my fingers crossed and knocking on wood.Hope this will solve my problem. Thanks again to...

I found some 90 wt. gear lube at Tractor Supply that is for Ford tractors . The brand name is Travelers .It is listed GL 1. Would this be suitable for my 40 transmission? Would this also work for the differential? Thanks Warren

Thanks everyone for your advise and prompt replies. The reason I asked ,I was told the convertible has an X frame that is different than the standard 40 frame and that his would make it more complicated to remove the spring. Apparently not the case. Thanks again; Warren

When replacing clutch on a 40 convertible should I disconnect springs from the chassis by loosening the U bolts and leave springs attached to running gear or use a spreader and leave springs attached to the chassis ? Thanks Warren

Is there a website or anywhere I can find part numbers and I Ds for old Ford parts . I have accumilated several boxes full with tags and numbers and don't know what year or body style they fit. I do know they are not for 1940 or model A. Thanks Warren
