    Tapatalk not working...

When I get some free time (not sure when), I might look into building an app just for Ford Barn, if you're interested, Ryan.

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

That's a cool battery! And a lot easier to build than what I did (no 'star texture'). But I'd need all the measurement specs of the actual battery to build it. I was lucky with the '40 Ford Battery that the Early Ford Parts Store had one I could borrow for a few weeks to study and measure.

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

Thank you! I enjoy creating things like this. Although it was a headache at many points, it was worth it!

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

I wanted to post a comparison of the real battery and my 3D printed on. As mentioned, at some point I'll head back up to the Early Ford Parts store to borrow the real battery again and get some side by sides.

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

Hello, thanks for the measurements. I actually mimicked the tar texture, to a degree, using some textured 'grain' paint. Using actual tar is a bit beyond what I would want to do, especially when you can mimic it. As for the gold, I actually tried it with a rubber hobby roller, funny enough...

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

Okay, here's the BIG update! I meant to post it a two weeks ago when I actually finished, but life has been crazy. The 3D printed 1940 Ford Battery is DONE and ready to be installed (well, once the car is ready). It's taken about a year of on/off again work, lots of failed/wrong prints, lots of...

    Tapatalk not working...

Not sure who the board admin is, but I'm not able to access the board via Tapatalk anymore. I get 'Network error, please try again later. (get_config)'. Uninstalled/reinstalled Tapatalk, but it appears to be an issue with the forum rather than Tapatalk in this case.

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

Big update: The main box has been glued, sanded, primed, and painted! Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The side panels were a huge pain to 3d print. Aside from the size being too large for my printer to handle in one go, I had to split them up into 3 parts, then put them...

    Longer '40 Battery Cable?

That link doesn't have the cables with the terminal clamp on one side, but after looking I found the same company also has a similar thing where you can pick the terminal clamp size and length. I'd prefer one with a woven loom on it, but of needed I can go this modern route is there no other...

    Longer '40 Battery Cable?

Hey all, does anywhere sell a correct longer 1940 Ford negative battery cable for a proper terminal 5v battery so the cable goes around the hot air tubes to the solenoid? I realized the one I have from CWMoss (their only 1940 neg battery cable) is too short. This sort one probably works for a...

1940 bumper guards back in stock...

Agreed to most of this. I've seen many parts made cheaply that are not even close. In the WW2 Jeep community these many instances of this when it comes to body panels. So far, the set of these reproduction guards (I got a set from Drake that arrived last week) are lining up and looking good...

1940 bumper guards back in stock...

The ones I got seem to fit just fine with my original bumper. Perhaps the new manufacturer has better tolerances?

1940 bumper guards back in stock...

Fyi, after what seems like forever being out of stock, Bob Drake finally found a new supplier for the 1940 Bumper Guards! Price went up a bit, but great to finally have a set. Still way cheaper than getting originals re-chromed. I'm seeing several online stores start to carry them as well...

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

Cost wise, I've maybe spent $50 on PETG filament to make this battery. That includes all of the failed/redo parts I've had to print along the way. The rest is my time, of course, designing and printing it, but it was a fun project (albeit frustrating many times!). I'm actually redoing one area...

    1940 split backrest upholstery

Are you talking about the Fordor Deluxe back seat? I have my original seat with original fabric (soon to be replaced as I'm doing my own upholstery as well). The bottom base has the fabric removed and is just the springs, but the top still has all the fabric and cushioning. Is there anything...

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

I've tested them with the cables on (previously mentioned in this thread). The battery cables fully grab and are tight. I've shortened the width of the top cover as much as I can, even adding an indentation underneath the cover for the red top to go into. Making it any thinner would require it...

3D Printed Ford Battery Case Help

Quick update... The battery has been printed! I'm just starting the process of sanding. The photos below show the battery held together with tape inside until I can glue everything with the plastic welding glue. The 6v optima red top battery is inside as well, a perfect fit. Even held together...
