5 Stars to FlatHeadCoupe John McClure! He assisted me on the phone with my key issue. Within a couple of days I received new keys for my missing glovebox and trunk, both worked perfectly! Thank you again for your help!

Ok folks, I finally got the cylinder out. There is a small roll pin through the little arm that locks the glovebox door. I pried it up but not out completely and it allowed the lock to come out of the glovebox door hole.

Skip is going to rebuild the Echlin stock style coil for 6v positive ground application. The coil looks the same as the brown factory Ford script coil.

I was trying to rtake it out the front. Let me try that.

Is FD64 the right condenser p/n?

I have a brown Echlin coil on my 39 Ford Deluxe. It has "A product of Echlin" with a walking bear on the top of it. I assume it is a replacement coil but have not been able to find any info on them. My car is 6v NEG ground and I am going to switch it back to positive ground. 1st question, is...

I'm taking out the glovebox lock to get the code to have a key made. I pulled off the spring clip thinking I could remove the arm that locks the glovebox, no luck. I removed the screws holding it to the door. How do I get it out of the glovebox door?

Thanks, will do!

I'm working on getting my 1939 Ford Deluxe to where I can drive it regularly. I'm dealing with a coil/condenser issue but have that in the works (Thanks in advance Skip!). While I am waiting on the coil issue to be resolved I want to work on some small items needing attention. I need a key for...

The radio is a 1951(?) Motorola 501A universal fit.

I'm not sure if the battery was hooked up backwards. The positive post has a battery connector with a wing nut on it and goes to the solenoid. Perhaps they switched it to negative ground because of the radio?

I called him today, thanks though for the heads-up.

I know this is an older thread, but maybe can get some help without starting a new one. I have a 39 Ford Deluxe I bought a few months ago. It is very stock and 6v but is wired negative ground. What are the advantages/disadvantages of positive vs negative ground? The gauges aren't working now...

Thanks again to all for the answers and suggestions! I have joined the earlyfordv8 club, same username as here, injunwiz. So, my '39 has Jefferson Blue paint. That is kind of ironic as FDR was writing his Jefferson Day speech when he collapsed the day he died. Jefferson was one of his heroes...

Thanks for the prompt replies! Great info to start me out. I didn't notice the location field when I signed up. I am in Warm Springs, Ga. about 1 hour South of Atlanta and I work at FDR's Little White House Historical site. We have FDR's 1938 Ford convertible in our museum. My 1939 is the same...

Hello There! I have had many old cars and motorcycles over the years and this is my 1st Flattie Ford! maybe these questions have been answered before, but here goes: The car is a survivor and is still 6v with Coker bias ply tires. No problems with that for me. New window seals and a few other...
