Thanks Steve and John.

I am currently tuning up a Zenith carb for a friend. This carb is an early one with the brass insert for the GAV needle. I noticed that there was no secondary well. Nor or there any threads to install one. This carb has an "H" embossed on the side. Is the absence of a secondary well normal...

I have a broken manifold stud at #3 cylinder. I went to adjust the torque on the studs yesterday for the first time since I have owned this car and as soon as I started to apply some torque the stud came away. The stud is not proud to the engine block, but is into the block by about 1/16". I...

I need to change the door lock (separate from the door handle) on the passenger door of my 1930 Town Sedan Deluxe. I have purchased a new lock from Bratton's. My question is: - can I just pry out the old lock from the the outside of the door or - do I have to remove the inside upholstery panel...

I replaced the original sector housing with the one with roller bearings and seal. I bought the new sector housing with bearings etc from Bratton's so I think that it is good quality. The new sector shaft also came from Bratton's.

My situation is entirely different from the previous post on the same subject. I have just rebuilt my steering box with a complete kit from Bratton's. I have done all of the adjustments on the bench and reinstalled in car. My box is the early 1930 Gemmer 2 tooth with the 2 19/64" OD gasket...

Thanks Growley bear. I have the box out of the car and will replace most of the parts and do the centralization adjustment as well. The info about having the worm centered and the wheels straight ahead makes a lot of sense. I didn't check that before I took everything apart, but will once it...

I think that Synchro909 may be correct. I do remember years ago reading something about the early worms that were incompatible with the new bearings. Thanks for reminding me about that. I will order a new worm and shaft from Brattons. BTW I have been really impressed with the service from...

I am redoing the 2 tooth steering box on my 1930 TS. I am probably going to buy the kit from Brattons that has just about everything except the worm gear, housing and the eccentric rivet. The sector is worn visibly in my current set up, but I can see no wear on the worm. It has been painted a...

Thanks to all for the information. I will be transporting the car this week. It's about a 350 km journey. I will post a pic as soon as I have the car home. The car is definitely a Murray.

For sure Glenn

Hello All; It has been some time since I have participated in Fordbarn mainly due to the fact that I sold my beloved coupe several months ago. I am in the process of purchasing a 1930 Town Sedan Deluxe that I have known for many years from an old friend. I don't know if it is a Murray or...

I have an opportunity to purchase what looks to be a very nice 1930 Town Sedan. The car is a long drive from where I live and I am concerned about the clearance between the seat and the steering wheel. I am a big boy. I have a good friend who has a '29 Town Sedan and I tried it today to see...

I have a 5.5 Snyder's head and FS Ignition. I would like the experts opinions on two things. 1. I have access to several spark plugs TT10, W16Y and W18. Which plug would you use with this head and ignition system? 2. What spark plug gap would you use with the HC head and FS Ignitrion? Thanks

I have this tool and use it for all of my hubcaps. It works well on the hubcaps with 10 tabs. I've never lost a hubcap using this tool. I bought mine from Mike's years ago.

It all depends upon what pleases you. It may not be "original", but very few Model A's are "truly" original. I would take this car in a heartbeat if the mechanical's are OK. The fenders are easily painted black if that is what you would like. The interior is not original, but seems to be...

Yes, that was very well done and very enjoyable.

That is a tool for setting the teeth in handsaws and saw blades. I have one.

Art, Welcome to Fordbarn. A great looking coupe BTW. You will find that you will receive great advice here on the barn for your car. I have been a member for a few years now and I rarely post, but I visit the barn every day and, every day, I learn something new.

I am rebuilding the ****** for a friend of mine and we were wondering why the rear bearing retainer is wired for safety, especially when the bolts are also secured with lock washers. Is it really necessary? How many of the barners actually do wire the retainer bolts when doing a ******...
