Got two kinds of hub caps. Pretty sure the round ones are for the 39 pu. The others, flatter with a ridge around outer most edge Also,found a 46 Merc hub cap if someone needs one.

Thanks. Makes sense. Was just looking at sump position. Guess I’m off to Epay. Have several 38 and 39 engines and blocks around. Engine in truck is definitely a 53 a friend rebuilt for his dump truck pre-divorce.

Got a booklet from rock auto that covers Ford ;)32-53 “Cars and light trucks”. NOT!! But it does show the cars went to a single breaker in 41 and duel breakers in 42.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to look at dashes to see what year I got stuff of of. I’m sure my 38 big truck had fuse and resister. At least one of the breaker boxes has two sets of “points” in it. Maybe two things protected? Never let a project sit for 5 yrs!

Thanks. Didn’t think of a thermal strip type breaker. Knew somethin’ had to make those points move! Which was first - fuse or breaker? Guess breakers are newer. The “smoked” one actually still had a fuse in it. All confusing ‘cause my truck seems to have no mounting holes for the three items...

I have a 1953 engine (maybe truck engine) in my 39 puand am trying to get steering working. Seems like link hooked to steering box arm is gonna hit the pan? Are there different pans? Change pans, modify tie rod-like link under the pan, dent pan in some? Thanks for suggestions!

Trying to wire my 39 pu. Lots of boxes under dash. Have parts from 6 38-39’s and one nearly new harness, but colors are bad and diagrams unclear. What are these items please. Seems like horn relay, some pieces have a resistor, only one has resister and fuse. Some of the boxes have points in them...

Sure I’ll remember……NOT. I seem to have two ground wires ( bare copper) and a wire from condenser to little nuts on points. Where does 6v to points come from? In other words, someone have a photo or maybe better, an explanation of what goes where. Only have one 53 dizzy, so nothing to look at...

BTW, JSeery's info is spot on, as usual. Tyree (and I) just crimped the wire terminal a bit to get it thru the loop - did not have to remove entirely. Just don't remember a second wire Gordon

Some would disagree, but call Tyree Davis - I think in North Carolina. He's been very helpful to me on wiring, but some have had a little trouble with him. He's made me harnesses that are better than original, and any mods I want. Ask him about his car (Ford) and vw's from the past. 804 556...
