1936 Crack in cylinder head- Help!

A crack has developed in my 1936 Woodie's cylinder head, where the water pump attaches to the cylinder head, (see attached photos). It's leaking radiator fluid whenever I drive and I am praying I won't have to replace the whole cylinder head. What to do? Can I weld it back together? Is...

How Many Years Have You Owned Your Car Or Truck?

My 1936 Ford Woodie has been in my family since the mid-1960's, when it was given to my mom from my father's father as a gift. That means 45+ years in my family. Family lore says he found it in a barn in New Hampshire, covered in hay. I have owned it since my mom passed away 4 years ago and...

    36 Woodie headlight gasket question

Sorry for the confusion. I guess since posting my question yesterday I have realized that I want to do what you did, dean333- take off the sealed beams and put original glass lenses back on. I bought the big convex lenses thinking they went over the sealed beams somehow, and that's why I...

    36 Woodie headlight gasket question

I'm not using reflectors and bulbs- the actual headlight is the more modern enclosed type. I guess it was added before I got the car? So maybe I have to buy the following conversion kit...

    36 Woodie headlight gasket question

So my Woodie has never had the nice convex headlight lens until today, when I received them in the mail from Mac's Antique Auto Parts. I also bought the "Headlight Lens to Bucket Gasket" but don't know where to install it- does it go between the new glass lens and the outer chrome ring? Or...

'36 Ford Woodie wiring help, please.

My Woodie has all original wiring. I often get blown fuses and a run-down battery. Headlights work until a fuse blows. Horn always works. The insulation is frayed and there's plenty of exposed wire throughout the car. Should I replace the whole thing? Do I go and buy a complete wiring kit...

    Smelly '36 Woodie needs advice

Here's my tailpipe. It's 1 1/2 inches in diameter, installed about 6 years ago. There's a sticker on it that says "genuine Ford parts." As you can see, it barely sticks out very far, straight out the back. Part of the problem?

    Smelly '36 Woodie needs advice

Many thanks to all you generous experts out there! I have many things to try to remedy my smell problem and I am much indebted to all of you for helping out. There are no windows in my Woodie except the windshield, because I took the driver and passenger side windows out to repair the crank...

    Smelly '36 Woodie needs advice

Thanks for the quick responses! Someone even wrote info on a potential mechanic. I love the Barn! Butch- 1. I have run the gas tank dry a couple of times, (gas gauge doesn't work, so I run out sometimes), so "old gas" shouldn't be part of the problem. 2. I will change the oil and see if...

    Smelly '36 Woodie needs advice

My mom passed away and left me the Woodie! How lucky am I? I'm doing my best to become an "old car buff," but need help with the engine smell. She runs great, but the engine/exhaust is noxious and limits how long I can drive her- the fumes overpower. What to do? Lead substitute? Engine...
