Occasionally I press the starter and just get a "whrrring" noise. I take my foot off and press again and starts fine. This does not always happen ....maybe 1 in 10 starts, Any thoughts?

If I remove the gauge how do you know if there is oil pressure? or am I worrying for no reason, seemed to run normal.

Build up in exhaust pipe? muffler? They look fairly new (recent purchase).

When I start my 30 pickup, there are black spots on the driveway , a discharge from the exhaust pipe. It is a mostly dry substance, with no smell, looks like soot from a fireplace. Any thoughts? Thanks
