    37 ton and a half

Thanks for the input. Since posting this I’ve started leaning towards a Brown Lipe or some other form of auxiliary transmission. I’m only guessing that it has 6.6:1 gears because the speedometer driven gear is stripped and I’m using a speedometer app on my phone to determine how fast I’m...

    37 ton and a half

Here’s a picture of my truck. Just put new 7.50-20’s on it back in the spring. A friend of my dad mounted them for me. He used to work at a tire shop when he was a teenager and wasn’t the least bit concerned about the old lock ring rims! “There ain’t nothin wrong with those wheels” he said. It...

    37 ton and a half

Did Ford offer two speed rear axles for the pre war ton and a half trucks? I’m weighing options for increasing the top speed for my 1937 flatbed. Not expecting anything wild but I’d like to be able to cruise comfortably around 55. Is that asking too much?

    Original 33 headlight reflectors

Can anyone post pictures of original 33 headlight reflectors that have the second socket for parking lights? Also would like to know what the original light sockets look like and if the reflectors are supposed to be installed with the parking light socket above or under the headlight socket...

37 ton and a half tire options.

Thanks for the input. Definitely not going to be a show truck so I’m not worried about losing originality points. I plan on putting it to use on the farm. I haven’t tried asking any local tire shops for 7:50-20 tires yet but just a quick search on line didn’t turn up much. Couldn’t even find...

37 ton and a half tire options.

I have a 37 ton and a half flatbed truck which currently has some very old 700-20 tires on it. Will 600-20 or 650-20 tires fit on the same rim? Were there different tire size options for these trucks when new?

    33-34 restoration guide.

I know the Early Ford V8 Club once published a restoration guide for 33-34 passenger cars but it seems that it’s currently out of print. Does anyone know if the will be reprinting them anytime soon or where a used one might be found?

    8BA In a 33

Trying to figure out how to attach pictures.

    8BA In a 33

I have a 33 Tudor sedan that has an 8BA which was installed by a previous owner. Other than the engine and the electric radiator fan the car appears to be pretty much stock 33. I’m not entirely certain but the transmission appears to be correct for the car as well. I’m not terribly pleased...

How many of you are doing total restorations?

Would love to do a complete restoration of my 33 Tudor but realistically it’s going to be “maintain and drive” as is for the foreseeable future.

Coop My condolences on your loss. I appreciate your insight as well as everyone else’s.

    1933 Model B and V8 drivetrain differences.

Thanks. I absolutely will be looking for the chassis catalog. I’ve been into Model A’s for a while but I’m just getting started with the early V8 cars. Didn’t really know where to start so that’s why I came here. I’ll probably be looking into joining the early V8 club as well.

    1933 Model B and V8 drivetrain differences.

Thanks for the info. Now I have other questions. At some point in its existence my coupe got a C59A V8 engine. Could the V8 have been transplanted into the car without changing the transmission and torque tube? How do you tell the difference in the transmissions and what length should the...

    1933 Model B and V8 drivetrain differences.

What are the differences in transmissions and rear axles for 33 ford passenger cars that were equipped with the model B four cylinder versus the V8? What are some of the other notable differences in the engine compartment and the controls layout. Also, I have a 33 coupe that has the VIN prefix...

Post a picture of your car...

My 29 tudor the day I brought it home from Mobile. The orange rims have since been repainted black and it has been reshod with black wall tires. Currently the engine is out with the block at H&H.

    A little off topic

Congratulations John from yet another former FFA member. The mechanical and welding skills that I picked up in ag shop have served me well. Its a shame more parents and students don't consider the value of agricultural or vocational education. Keep up the good work!

    Scammer

WOW! What a can of worms that opened up! I agree that you can never be too careful about online purchases. Knowing that that was the point I took no offense even though I'm a gmail account holder myself.

    Backfire thru the Carb

Probably would'nt hurt to check the ignition timing either. I have seen timing that was set too retarded cause very similar symptoms.

    Backfire thru the Carb

I've seen a stuck valve cause quite a magnificent backfire through the carb on a buddy's 29 pickup. Of course it had also been sitting for nearly 15 years.
