Small screwdriver worked. That ring was really jammed in there. Thanks all.

    Dome Light

I feel pretty stupid asking this. But, how do you get the snap ring out on the dome light? Everything I have tried is damaging the lens. Someone must have done this, and has a trick up their sleeve they could share.... Thanks, Christopher

    engine knocking

Well, I inherited the car about 5-6 weeks ago. I've been flushing the engine. Fixing fuel line issues. Replacing hoses and re wiring the car. Doing a lot of odd ends. I've been doing as much as I can to it without spending a fortune. I put on a new coil. New radiator hoses. New fuel lines with...

    engine knocking

I'm back.... I spent the weekend getting the timing figured out on my car. I finally got it running pretty well. I think I got the timing figured out. I was adjusting the timing, then driving it around the block to test it out. The last time I timed it today and took it out, it ran great. But...

    Wiring Woes

Thanks Paul! I am in Dallas, TX. I am already a member of the DFMAC here. I do get a lot of support from the club. But, sometimes it is faster and easier to post here. Everyone in the club is retired, and work on their vehicles during the week days, taking evenings and weekends off. I am only...

    Wiring Woes

I took a look on macs site. This looks like a switched version. So I guess I need to install a switch somewhere.

Well it looks exactly like the last image, except for the center light configuration.

    Wiring Woes

OK, I have an oval instrument panel. So what I was missing is that the Inst Panel Bulb can be turned on or off by pushing in and twisting it. So I took a closer look at my panel bulb this morning. The light socket is recessed into the instrument panel. There is a small lip beveled out from the...

    Wiring Woes

This makes no sense to me at all....I am following this diagram. Negative terminal goes to the starting motor. Red wire goes from starting motor to passenger side of Junction Box. Which then goes to the drivers side of the Ammeter. The instrument light connects to the passenger side of the...

A couple of problems - overheating - backfire

I should have that information before I posted I guess. But I am still very new to this so I will play the noobie card. The car is a 30 coupe. I believe it is a stock cap, but recently replaced. I found Marco's site but am still confused on how to set the points. I think I need to do some more...

A couple of problems - overheating - backfire

Searching here for a while and not coming up with a really good image or video to show me how to check the point gap. At first I thought you were talking about the spark plug gap. But now I see the point gap is inside the distributor. But I do not see how to check the gap specifically.

A couple of problems - overheating - backfire

This is all great advice. And is warding off my fears of replacing a head gasket. I have learned so much from this forum and find everyone to be extremely helpful. I will try everything recommended tonight and get back to you all. If there is anything else I could check, please let me know...

A couple of problems - overheating - backfire

I have been doing a lot of reading, but I thought I would make new post explaining all my problems, as they might trigger someone to recognize a specific resolution. 1. I think my engine is overheating. When I received the vehicle, it was running with antifreeze. The radiator would boil over...

    flooding Zenith carburetor

So you recommend using water instead of antifreeze? Interesting. I will look into that more. Is there a temperature gauge you recommend installing?

    flooding Zenith carburetor

The carb does not flood anymore. Since I am new to this you have to forgive me. I did not see exactly where the gas was leaking from. But there would be gas dripping from the carb near the drain screw. Any ideas on the antifreeze leak?
