    Missing light box part

(related to another post) Trying to put light switch back where it belongs. We bought a light box but there's nowhere to attach the wires. Original harness is gone. I assume there is a disk that goes in there but can't find one for sale. It seems there's one on the harnesses you buy. Anyone...

7 tooth steering bottom bearing question

Trying to put the lights back where they belong, but the ring that the light box fits into spins. What's supposed to hold it still when you turn the wheel?

    Grinning and "bearing" it

I want an opinion. Sure I'll get many. Took main bearing cap off and found this. This isn't a cross country or daily driver car and runs fine. This is the front and is cast. I'm in a foreign country (Brazil) and getting a new one is a very major ordeal. Should I... 1) leave the **loose**...

    Don"t touch that bolt

I was searching for timing procedures for the oil pump gear to get the slot in the right place so distributor would line up. THEN I realized it doesn't matter where the slot is because the distributor cam is loose and you can put it where ever you need. (where's the smiley face with a palm...

    pin substitute

    How much is too much

I've read several threads on valve lash. I've got way too much but they're not adjustable. Ours vary between 17 and 25 thou. At what point must I pull the head and remove the valves and try to close the gap?

    Crankshaft end play

I know there's a lot on this around but I'd like to verify before I do something (else) stupid. We've got an early A with cast bearings. The end play is .025". The thrust part of the bearing looks good though we didn't totally remove the bearings. (I don't want to mess more than I have to.)...

    A block color

My understanding is that the model A engines are green. However as we strip this one I find no evidence that it was ever anything but red - even in the the casting pits. Were there ever any red ones? or did someone do a really good blast job? or is the green so close to the raw block color...
