For a couple of days I have experienced an occasional click when starting my 52 Vic. Not all the time but once in a while. i cant tell if it is my ignition switch or the starter or the voltage regulator. The battery is ok and the car will eventually start. Any thoughts?

52-54 Ford heater vacuum line routing

After spending a few weeks trying to get heat in my Vic, I solved the problem, thanks to many of you Ford people! Now that I have heat, I wanted to figure out why I could not control the temperature of the heat? the Ford manual tells how the system works but that is about it. The diagram of the...

    Flathead heater continued

On an earlier thread I indicated that I was having a problem with my 52 v8 heater. Recently, I flushed the heater core and bypassed the control valve which , I believe, is faulty. The core looks very clean with no sludge when flushed. However, I'm still not getting any heat when the engine is...

    fluctuating fuel gauge

Another concern for my 52! The fuel gauge needle is wandering between 1/2 full and 1/4 full. I'm sure the general consensus might be to replace the unit in the gas tank? However, I was thinking of removing the unit and cleaning it since it is not that old. Do you think it would help? Also, can I...

    Dual 94's?

I'm seriously considering a dual Holley 94 set up on my 52 flathead. I know the purists out there are not going to go for this. However, I really. want to . My thought is to get an intake adapter and add the two Holleys to it. I cant spend more money to get a true intake manifold and i...

    idle speed screww

Hi everyone The idle speed screw on my 52 v8 has no effect on the idle speed. My thought would be the linkage to the carb. Ive adjusted the threaded linkage closest to the carb but it seems I'm too close to the end of the threaded rod. Is there an adjustment at the other end of the rod...

94 float height and float drop?

Could you guys explain float height and float drop. I think i understand the height measurement and where to adjust it but the drop measurement could use some discussion. I realise the other tab would be used for this adjustment but then I hear that drop is not that critical. Ford did not spec...

Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring

i'd like your opinions regarding a spring that sits in the well of a Holley 94 carb. Not to be confused with the spring that is part of the accelerator pump itself. Some rebuilders use this and some are against it. It can be a conical spring that helps the accelerator pump return to its normal...

    cleaned fuel bowl=no start?

After having issues with my 52 v8 jets, i moved on to cleaning the glass fuel bowl on my fuel pump. Lots of debris on the bottom. After cleaning and making sure I set the glass correctly onto the gasket and secured the bracket, I proceeded to start the car. Engined turned strong but did not fire...

    hesitation

My 52 v8 was running rich with #51 jets. Dropped two sizes to#49's. I'M getting a slight hesitation when I start to accelerate. I adjusted the fuel mixture with my vac gauge and increased the idle speed to about 600 rpm in Drive. Would the drop in jet size be the cause?

    loose vacuum tube

Hi Guys I found a loose vac tube under the dash on my 52 Vic. One end, I believe is attached to the vacuum thermostat valve located within the heater plenum on the right side. This tube is 1/4 inch and has a plastic tee inserted the middle of the tube. I cannot figure out where the end of...

    piston stop bolt confusion

I'm trying to understand the piston stop bolt procedure. How do you know how far to screw the adjustable bolt down into the cylinder? How do i know that the piston will not hit the bolt? How do I know if i'm on the compression stroke or the power stroke? Still have not found a good explanation...

I have an old Sears engine analyzer which is 12volts. I want to check rpm and dwell on my 52 pos.grnd 6volt Ford v8. How should I connect the red, black and green wires. need a wiper repair kit

Hello to all of you! Ive got the wiper motor blues. Tried the MM oil remedy which may have helped a bit but i think i need a motor overhaul. Can't seem to find a complete kit for rebuilding the 52 vic wiper motor. I did a search on the Barn site but most of the threads were several years old. Do...

    oil pressure gauge

Back again! Just when everything was working great, I noticed today that my oil pressure gauge on my 52 Vic was at zero and did not move. Up till today, it worked fine. It always took its time to get up to 50-60 psi but it would get there. My guess is its the sending unit. But then again it...

    52 hubcap problem

Hi! My 52 Vic has original hubcaps. On occasion, one has fallen off. I've carefully bent the prongs close to the original position but I think the metal is getting tired. I want to keep the original caps and do not want to pay for new ones which will probably be in the same condition as mine. I...
