    How to sell

Sorry for dumb question, but how do I list a Model A for sale on Fordbard? I don't see any site for selling.

    For Sale listings.

Where on Fordbarn do you list a car for sale? The Swap Meet is just for parts--isn't it?

    Points maintenance

What are the symptoms that points need adjustment, dressing, or replacement? My A runs a little rough, and won't idle without dying. New gas, timing spot on, puzzled.

    Oil change?

I haven't driven my A more than a couple hundred miles in the last ten years, I'm ashamed to say, but I'm thinking I should maybe change the oil anyway. I know it wouldn't hurt, but is it really necessary? I'm using 10/30 HD oil and it looks fresh and new on the dipstick even after running...

    About half Model A related

I've seen videos of people changing Model A tires with the wheel still on the car. Has anybody here ever changed the rear tire of their lawn tractor with the wheel still on the axle? Can't get my wheel off.

    Old Gas

Unfortunately, I don't drive my A all that much, so the gasoline in the tank has been accumulating (along with shots of MMO) over several years. I finally bit the bullet yesterday and drained the tank, cleaned out the sediment bulb and screen, and put in a quarter tank of fresh gasoline. What...

    Time bomb?

I have a 10-leaf spring from an old project leaning against the inside wall of my garage, with the center bolt in place. Is this a ticking time bomb? Should I (carefully) disassemble it? Ignore it?

Indiana New Definition of Collector Vehicle

I got a letter yesterday from the Indiana Commissioner of Motor Vehicles explaining that Indiana has changed their definition of a collector vehicle, and I now "must visit a license branch to renew [my] registration and declare that [my] vehicle meets the new definition of a Collector vehicle...

    Rear Brake Shoe Lining Replacement

There seems to be some disagreement in the archives over whether it is absolutely necessary to remove the emergency brake carrier assembly in order to remove and replace rear brake shoes. Some say it's not easy but it can be done; others say it's not a good idea. I recall an old-timer telling...

    Brake noise

Sometimes if I apply my brakes while making a right turn I get a sort of squawking growl from my right front brake. I have woven brake linings with cast iron drums. Could this be the cause?

    Sediment bowl gasket

I'm replacing the gasket on my sediment bowl (neoprene, because that's what I have) and wonder if I should apply a thin coat of permatex on each side, or only on one side, or none at all. Thanks as usual for any advice!

What do you DISLIKE most about your car?

Fair is fair. As much as we love them, our cars must have some things we're not all that fond of.

    Artificial (not universal) joints

I was heartened to see that so many relative youngsters are involved in the model A hobby, but there are still a lot of us oldsters, too. There must be a lot of Model A people out there with artificial knees, hips, and/or anything else that can be replaced. I'm wondering if, among those of you...

    Don't sweat the spelling--too much

I recall a thread last week where somebody got some friendly ribbing on their spelling. I just ran across this in my stuff and thought you folks might enjoy it! THE PAOMNNEHAL PWEOR OF THE HMNUAN MNID I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdgnieg. The phaonmneal pweor...

    That Model A Sound

My A just doesn't have that good old Model A sound. My muffler is a stainless steel Beaver purchased many years ago (and expensive even then). Does anyone else have one of those (though they're no longer manufactured) and is that my problem? What made me fall in love with A's in the first...

    Front Bearing Grease Cup

I did not realize that the grease cup on the front hub was not exactly optional, but something Henry didn't add until 1931. I've put them in dozens of times with no trouble, but I just put new cast iron brake drums on my car and spent more time getting those d---- things in than. . . . Let's...

    Wheel bearing grease

I'm getting ready to install cast iron brake drums on my roadster, so I'll naturally be repacking all the bearings, both front and back. I have at least half a VERY LARGE can of lithium wheel bearing grease I purchased from Sears in 1976 when I restored my first A (Don't know why I'm described...

Oil viscosity and leaking rear main

I've got what seems to me a pretty bad oil leak in the rear main on a newly professionally overhauled engine (only about 500 miles on it). I'm using a multi-grade oil (10-30). Would a straight weight (30) help any? I'm guessing probably not, but just wondered.
