    65 Thunderbird trunk lock mechanism

Hello all, I'm usually lurking around the V8 flathead section. A buddy of mine just picked up a 65 Thunderbird. He is trying to put his trunk lock mechanism together and is having trouble with the rod that goes from the key to the lock itself. I think it is a s shaped rod. Does any one have a...

    Dual horns - Wiring

I bought these horns at a anitque shop. I don't think they are Ford, but they look like what is supposed to be stock on my 41. I need help with the wiring and operation of these. My one big question is how they are supposed to work. There are contactors that look like points in a way. Is there...

    Carburetor Issues - School me

I have a 226 H-series in my 41 (not stock to car). It has the Holley 847 carburetor on it. Supposedly it was rebuilt, but I can not attest to the quality of the rebuild. It worked when I first put it on a few years ago. But it never idled right. I couldn't get it to idle below 700 RPM. It...

    1941 Tudor Dash Trim

Anyone know who sells the dash trim that is all one piece? I have checked Bob Drake, Dennis Carpenter and Macs and they all sell the two piece design. Was the one piece an aftermarket part?

    Problems with my 226H

I just got my car started the other day and it idles like I have it floored. 1) Completely stock mechanically (226 H-Series L6) 2) Pertronix Ignitor II (timing is set, no pings or misfires) 3) stock rebuilt carburetor (had sat inside my house for about a year before install) 4) electronic fuel...

226 H Series Flathead plug hole identification.

I need to know what these holes go to on the drivers side of the block. They all look to be 3/8 NPT. I know one is for the oil pressure and one had a drain petcock in it. Not sure about the others. Any body have any suggestions as to what actually needs to be plugged and what doesn't? The holes...

    Throw Out Bearing Removal

Hey All, I tried searching for this information, but didn't find anything. First, is the throw out bearing pressed onto the collar? Is there a special tool to remove the bearing? Just use a two prong or three prong puller?

    226 H-Series Engine Plate / Bellhousing Needed

I am in need of either a truck engine plate for the H-Series 226, or the bellhousing for a 1948 car. I currently have the engine plate for a 1948 car and the bellhousing for a truck. They obviously don't match up. So I need the other part to get this engine in my car. Thank you.

    Restomod site

I have been wondering about this for a while now. Fordbarn emphasizes on restoration, the HAMB focuses on traditional hot rodding. Is there a site for people that want to do a restomod? This topic seems to be all over the place. I know there have been topics on here about swapping to a 5 speed...

    Holley 94 Questions

Hello all, I have two 94's that a guy wants to buy off me. I am not sure how much to ask for them. I posted some pics of them. They are in good shape and were on a running engine a few months ago. I do have a question about one of them. There is a 3/8" hole in the back of one of them. I am...

    Flywheels

I just removed the flywheel from my engine. It uses the 9" clutch. This flywheel has a big lip that surrounds the clutch. I don't have any pictures of it. The attached picture I got off the web. It's the only one I could find. Is there any particular reason for this design? Is it just to add...

    Flat 6

Just curious, but is there anybody here on the Barn that is running a flathead L6 in their car or truck? G or H series? If so, any mods and how do you like it?

    226 L6 Flathead Cam Removal

I am trying to remove the cam from my 226 H-Series. I removed the two bolts that hold the retaining plate, but the cam won't budge at all. From the drawings on Vanpelts website, it appears that these are the only screws hold it in the block. I have the engine upside down, valves out. So the...

    Flathead 226 H-Series

I posted this on the fordsix forum, but it doesn't seem like anyone is every on there for the vintage engine section. Now this is for the inline 6 flathead out of a 48 sedan. I am not even close to getting my engine put back together, but one thing that I have been wondering is about the carb...

    What are my options?

I am just trying to see what my options are. I had pulled the pistons from my engine and two cylinders have some bad scoring on the walls. This engine has the thin wall sleeves. Almost all of the cylinders have some sort of vertical scratch marks going down the walls. My pistons measured at...

    Head Stud Removal

Okay, I have come to a halt on my project. I have 21 studs left to remove, and they are all in there really good. I don't want to break any if possible. I bought 2 different types of stud removal tools. I think I was able to attach the pictures. What is the best way to remove them? The socket...

    Weiand Cheater Heads

So I was on Craigslist and I found someone selling a set of Weiand Cheater Heads. They looks nice in the picture. Does the price sound reasonable? I like the look of stock heads over the finned heads, but I also like aftermarket parts and aluminum heads for some reason. Another question, would...

Front seat springs for 41 Tudor

I have to ask this, will the bottom seat spring from a 51 F1 fit into a 41 tudor. I am asking this because I don't have the bottom seat springs. The PO made the seat bottom out of 2x4 and memory foam. There is a guy local to me selling the seat springs and frame out of a 51 F1 for a decent...
