We took three different carburetors off the shelf that had been "rebuilt". All three flooded over when we turn the fuel valve on. Checked the floats, there ok. Main jet and cap jet at narrow part of venture. What else do I check for? Thanks

After looking at several old main bearing caps it appears the are of a different diameter (or radius) than the block main bearing seats. I realize that a lot of caps were filed down but even taking that into consideration the diameter seems quite a bit smaller. Does this make any sense to...

After line boring the mains we found that the Babbitt on the caps were extremely thin. Anyone run into this problem? Maybe someone had filed the caps down at one time. Is there a way to measure the caps before hand to make sure they are ok before pouring? Thanks, Tom

What is the thickness of main bearing shims supposed to be? I have a set that is .016 I remember reading somewhere that the shims for an A motor was thicker than that. Thanks, Tom

I've got two pinion gears and both of them measure the same but the bearing fit seems loose to me. I can slide on the bearing half way on the sleeve and then not much more effort to slide it on all the way. I am worried there is not enough of an interference fit. Any idea's or suggestions...

I can't seem to find the shackle hole size in the rear perch for the shackle bushing. I did some repair in this area and want to check the size before I press the bushing in. Thanks

I have noticed one of the carrier bearings has spun on the carrier hub and worn into the carrier. I know there are shims to hold the bearing out in its proper place but how do I determine how much? I see that the shims are .005 thick but I don't know how many to use. I hope there is a way...

How much bigger on average is a shaft diameter than the bearing when pressing on a new bearing? I'm guessing 1 to 2 thousanth's. If the shaft diameter is the same size as the bearing I.D. can knurling work to increase the diameter? Thanks, Tom
