    1936 Ford Headlight Bulb Replacement

'A simple job for simple people' Quote from Curly, Three Stooges, A Plumbing We Will Go. Pretty straight forward, right? I was changing a bulb that blew out on the high beam side. For four hours. I never did get it put back in, started losing my patience quit and walked away. I don't fault...

Are Modern Shock Conversions worth it?

On '35-'36 Ford Cars and Pickups? Joe's has modern type tubular shock kits for both front and rear that are reasonably priced, mostly bolt-in with some drilling... Our '36 is missing some kind of mounting brackets for the original rear shocks. Just pondering options. Good? Bad? Not worth...

Convert to 12V or stay stock????

Did a search and didn't really find much what I wanted to know so, do you guys stay 6V Pos. ground as original pretty much, or do you advise the 12V conversion? I've been trying to stay stock w/ our flathead, 59AB, but it sure is getting to be a hassle starting the vehicle anymore. Have done...

    Ignition retard-advance question

On a newly rebuilt distributor with original type points, etc. that I bought from one of the leading vendors, no matter how I try to zero in the timing (and I've done it about 8-9 times using Marco's method), it won't start with the spark fulled advanced you have to pull it down two clicks and...

    Columbia Rear End '36 Pickup

Not to steal another fellow's thread on a '36 PU he's looking at, but I have a lead on a running '36 that is all there, original Ford sheetmetal, and has a Columbia rear end. Man is getting up there in years, WWII vet. We talked about it last month, I tried to get him to shoot me a price and...

Kind of interesting to look at. Lots of variables the future of old cars really doesn't look all that bleak. http://collectorcarpricetracker.com/auctions/detail/140832964155/ The home page of this site had a summary of Model A Fords, and it claimed that the A is still considered a 'honey of a...

What, no B-J Auction 2015 comments?

Good entertainment on these cold January nites in Illinois. You have to overlook the prices 'paid' and just have fun watching the car show. Hobby is strong and very much alive. Mostly 70-ish age guys playing, I guess they are the age bracket w/ the big coin to spend. Ron Pratt looks to be...

    59AB oil pressure

Did a search didn't really find an answer here................... Pressure on our 59AB flattie runs around 8 lbs. with the motor good and warmed up. About 50 lbs, on start up of a cold engine. Motor runs great, no issues no weird noises. Running 10w-40 motor oil. Any thoughts? Seems OK to me...

    Vintage autos and trains

If you are ever in Northern Illinois stop in and see the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Il outside of Rockford. Worth the visit! There are a few brief antique car shots in this so it qualifies for FordBarn! http://youtu.be/hcW4aZ8LFqQ It's a shame that our beloved old cars, killed the trains.

    E-Bay oddity

Something new happened to me today... was bidding on an item, there were no bidders until Sat. Item ended today. Was on E-Bay a week. Not big money. The first and only bidder stood at the opening bid of $5.00. I was waiting until close to the end to bid. I put in a bid, all was going well...

    '38 Pickup floormats

Was at a car show today and saw a very nice '38 Pickup done back to original, not a street rod. he had a new floormat that looked, by design, like the '35-'36 Pickups. Question. They don't sell floormats for the '36 any longer as we discussed here recently. My wife cut out one that fits very...

    Tire checking/safety

Not to hijack RHD's thread------------------ I was talking to a tire technician at the Goodyear shop last week and asked him about my 20 year old Goodrich tires on another older Ford we have. Tires look like new, car always garaged. No cracks of any kind anywhere. Less than 3,000 miles on the...
