Hey all - I've got a 1936 Ford Truck with a 1937 or 1938 21 stud flathead v8 in it. It has the original style manual fuel pump. The lines are just kind of rigged up for now. The fuel tank has been switched out year or two ago. Its running OK at the moment (some backfiring after revving it up but...

1936 Ford Pickup - Heads, Rod bearings, or spare engine?

I've got a cracked head on my 1936 1/2 ton pickup, the cracked one is the one from the drivers side - marked 40-6050-B (iron). Also may need a set of .010 rod bearings. My engine is marked with 'LB' under the intake manifold area at the top of the engine, and has the water pumps on the front...

1936 Ford Pickup 12 volt Ignition Question

Hey all, Getting ready to take my truck up to a show this Friday, which I've been looking forward to. I got my original helmet style ignition coil rebuilt and rewound to 12 volt by Skip Haney down in Florida. The bad thing is I've burnt it up by leaving the key on for a while just yesterday...

1936 Ford Pickup - New Fuel Pump, No Gas

Hey all, I'm working on a 1936 Ford Pickup, all original. The thing will run pretty well when it gets gas. So I bought a new mechanical fuel pump (like the original) from Mac's and stuck in on the truck along with an new gas tank. I ran the line up there and cranked and cranked but I can't...

    Suggestions for a Fuse Box?

I've got a '36 Ford Pickup I'm keeping pretty well original except I've converted it to 12 volt. I saw Mac's has a wiring harness (68-11647) for the tail lights, headlights and fuel tank and was looking at getting that when I get around to wiring those up. Main question I had was I figured I...

Hey all, I purchased a rebuilt pedal assembly for my '36 ford pickup and was getting ready to put it in. Two Solenoids on a 36 Pickup?

I don't have much experience with car wiring, but I noticed that the 36 I'm working on seems to have two solenoids? Is this a common thing? The top one actually is labeled IGN SW SOL, the bottom isn't but they look exactly the same. The bottom solenoid has a wire coming in the from battery on...

Pulling the engine on a '36 pickup

I've got the intake manifold off, radiator and grill is off. Are there any specifics or steps anyone has for removing one of these? I assume I've got to go unbolt the bolts around the transmission and get it lifted off the motor mount bolts in the front but if anyone has some steps to get me...

1936 Ford Pickup: Cleaning the sludge under the intake manifold

As suggested, after I cleaned out the oil pan I took off the intake manifold to clean the valley of sludge out there. Attached some pictures, looks pretty nasty so I'll get it cleaned up. Any pointers here? Anything I screw up? I'm guessing I want to make sure I don't drop any of the crap down...

Oil Pump Removal from 1936 Ford Pickup

I've dropped the pan. I took a bolt out where the oil pump attaches to the block. Is there anything else holding it up there? It feels pretty solidly attached even without the bolt! I just don't want to risk messing it up.

    1936 Ford Pickup Shifting Issues

I haven't got the truck to run yet but was curious about a transmission issue it has. The transmission and engine is original. I am able to shift to reverse, neutral and first but I cannot get it over to second or third. I assume it'll have to come out, but I'm no transmission guy... anyone...
