the casting around the exhaust valve guide is broken on all 4 of the exhaust guides from the look of it it has been like this for a long time I couldnt see this until the guide was removed from the block - is this common? - should the block be scraped? this is the worst one

is there a special tool for the square haed on the crank journal bolt or can an 8 point socket work? also I have pin holes in the dipper pan Im thinking I should braze them but has anyone ever used J B weld?

what is a normal compression reading - im getting 50/55 across all 4 - engine smokes when it gets warm - im thinking of giving cylinders a few squirts of MMO and let it soak in for a couple days thanks

just got my 29 pickup will do a preservation and make the truck road worthy - runs good starts rite up but carb leks out intake side while running needs brakes and steering help etc. - so far so good! im also on the h.a.m.b. under an alias as i didnt know they were connected - ill try and post a pic
