    Where Does It Go??

I’m putting the ‘37 back together following clutch work and can’t remember where this bracket goes. I know it is part of the floorboard. Please explain.

A Tail of Two Wiring Harnesses

About six weeks ago my ‘30 Coupe left me on the road like I’d turned the switch off. Come to find out the hot wire feed to the wiring harness from the starter had come loose from the grommet. Now I accepted responsibility for this as I understand it is difficult to tighten the nut on the starter...

    Stainless Exhaust Failure

The exhaust system has been on my car about 10 years. No rust or burn through however, the weld hoding the tailpipe to the muffler broke through. Has anyone else experienced this?

    New Coil in Script Can

I’ve been told and have read this can be done. I’d like to see some photos of how to do this. I have a script reproduction which failed. I took it apart and tried to insert a new coil. It enters the lip that held the backlit top but will not enter the can. Are original coils slightly larger in...

    Starter Switch Non-Contact

Has happened several times with two different repo switches. Won’t make contact to turn the starter, then will several times then won’t. I’ve cleaned, greased with dielectric and replaced and it still happens. How could align the contacts for more surface area?

    Ammeter Shows No Charge

Full disclosure, I screwed up. A loose coil wire caused backfiring. After replacement the starter didn’t engage. Installed an 8v battery. Due to poles being on the same side I ran into shorting of the cable clamp to the battery hold down. A roadside insulator didn’t do the trick. Next morning I...

    Engine Noise

After my pickup sets for several days the engine clatters on startup. Is has less than 1,000 miles on an overhaul. After running30-40 seconds it quotes down. Could this be lifters? If so why do they drain down to this point?

    St Paul Factory

Just returned from trick or treating with grandchildren in the Highland Park neighborhood. While there and observing much new development, our son in-law explained this is where the Ford Factory once was.

    Traffic Signal Wiring

I’m thinking someone here has mounted a traffic signal in their garage and wired the lights in sequence to come on as you enter the parking space. I.e. green, yellow, red then off. Would you be willing to share how you did this?

    Born Third Syllable

I have two professionally rebuilt horns. Neither makes the complete Ahaa-ooh-gaa sound. I’ve assured lubrication, grounds, adjusted from one extreme to the other as well as consulted with the rebuilder to no avail. They either produce the first two syllables or a squawk. I know one diaphragm is...

    Side 5 Lug Bolts

I seem to have determined the lug bolts in my wide 5 two-piece ‘37 brake drums are smaller in diameter than those in the one-piece hubs. Is this also correct for the smooth two-piece drums? If so, is it possible to use the ‘36 drums without fins on my hubs?

    Original 1930 Town Sedan

A neighbor will be selling his original, unmolested car. It is in the process of appraisal. He has owned it for 68 years. It hasn’t run in a couple of years and has always been stored inside. It will need interior which is available from vendors. Please contact me as he is not interested on-line.

    Chemist Needed!

I found a very minor gas leak around the steering column support bracket in my newly restored pickup. It has 800 miles on it. The tank was acid striped, sealed and painted. I can see a crack off to one side of the bracket that is very narrow and less than one inch long. I hate to remove the tank...

    Removing Brake Hose

The hose readily comes loose from the cylinder but am having problems breaking it loose from the block on the frame. Pointers needed! This is on a ‘37 with juice brakes.
