    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

Yeah, I believe my engine builder did something on one of my hotter 351C's to improve oiling. I think he put restrictors in the top end to keep more oil in the bottom end. Sound right? Not 100% sure, as my memory gets worse by the month! F F

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

I dropped a Manley valve in one of my 351's years ago, and had to sleave a cylinder. It was a 1970 block, which according to some had the highest nickel content. So, we saved it. Back in the late '60's "Ohio George" Montgomery used C6's when he ran his Ford AA/G gasser Mustangs. The blue car had...

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

My'56 came with a !957 9" in it. One of the few good things the former owner(s) did right! '57 is the only 9" that has the round back. Street rodder's love 'em. Very hard to find these days. The '57, '58, & '59 are the same width as the original rear's that came in '55/'56 passenger cars. The...

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

KULTULZ - Yes, I had read that the early TB's had same problem. Thanks for the link! rotorwrench - The car came to me w/a slightly bigger cam, & Edelbrock 4v manifold. It also had a 750 Holley (way too big!) & a Mallory distributor w/no vacuum advance. I put a new Holley 600 on & a new...

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

That crossmember that the ex. pipes go through is quite thin steel. When i finish w/my removable center piece it will actually be stronger, as I will be using 3/16th's steel plates to bolt it back in. My ****** is ok now, but I am always thinking/planning ahead & prepping for the future. (I got...

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

It's really neither one. Just an "old school" hot rod w/a few upgrades. Something you probably would have seen in a high school parking lot in the mid sixties.

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

KULTULZ, I have been over p. 125 many times. Like I said in my original post, There is no mention of the 2 spd. Fordomatic trans. removal. Only the 3 spd. manual & overdrive trans. rotowrench, It's a 351C 2V engine & c4 out of a 72 Mustang. Was in it when I got the car. There is nothing wrong...

    '55-'56 auto trans renoval?

Hey guys! What's involved in removing the auto trans on a '55-'56 Fairlane. My car has a 351C & c4 auto. I don't see how the trans. will clear the rear frame crossmember. I am not talking about the rear trans. mount. That piece comes out fine. I am talking about the crossmember that the parking...

They will be using my new $299.00 worm gear & shaft, much to my delight. The rebuild kit will be sold to a local guy who insists on rebuilding his box himself.

    Steering box rebuild...

Update: Lares will accept my box disassembled. They take your core/box & rebuild it w/new parts on site, so you get yours back like new. Not cheap, but it comes w/a warranty also. I shipped it out today. Don't know what the turn around time is. F F

They will accept my disassembled box, as long as all parts are there. I am not concerned about #'s because my car nowhere near original. I will be shipping my stuff to them soon.

    Steering box rebuild...

Hey Gene - I have a complete rebuild kit from Concours including the 2 tooth worm gear on the shaft. Someone locally (a great mechanic) took mine apart & I got all the parts needed, but he's been jerking me around now for 3 month's about putting it together. F F
