so I have a leak coming out of the left rear hub, Checked diff oil level and about half a cup of oil came out. So it was overfilled! Anyway took hub off and bearing full of oil and oil all over brake shoes. So will get new linings. Looking at the hub seal ,you will see a small nick, not sure if...

Thanks for the answers in my previous post.... But.. I have a hub puller etc, reallly want to know about the seal, can it be removed and a new one put in with basic handyman mechanic tools or do I need specialised tools? Just want to be forarmed so to speak, I dont know what I'm getting into...

Can the rear hub seal be replaced with just basic tools? Or do you need specific tools to do this? I have a leak coming down the outside of the backing plate which I dont believe is brake fluid. But of course wont know until I pull the Drum off. cheers

My Model A has *CAA 78016* stamped on the block. What does that tell me please? cheers

what do the team think the problem is here? It looks like a shadow on the backing plate but is a thin film of oil. you can see the drip at the bottom.. OOPS. LOOKS LIKE I LOST THE PICS!!!

Just remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid answer's! Anyway.... I assume 35 V8 16'' wire wheels bolt onto Model A's with no modifications? Thanks in advance

Whats the story on replacing shackles? I can get the press in type, 1,do you have to have a special tool for this? 2, Can It be installed with diff still in car? 3 Is there another type that is easier for the ''Shade Tree Mechanic'' to install? Any advice/comments gratefully accepted! P.S. 1938...

Are the gearbox mounts on 37/38/39 different to the 46-48? as in the measurement between bolt holes? also does the 46-48 mount bolt up to the earlier gearbox? Thanks

Is the front and back spring on the 46/47/48 Ford the same? I have one that has been in the shed for years and can't remember which it is! Also ,are they a different lenght to the pre war Ford? cheers

How tight should I do up the large spindle nut? I realise I have to line up the hole for the cotter pin, but should I tighten or loosen nut? if you know what I mean!

What the general consensus on running Hydraulic brake lines to the rear of a pre war car? have seen both .1 line then split at the diff and then run to each wheel and also split at the start of the radius rods ,then run down each to the wheels.
