Happy International Model A Day... From Japan

Hello, I might be the only person here in Japan even thinking about Model A Day, so I will share what I was surprised to discover. At the Edo Tokyo Museum there is a 30/31 Model A Fordor decorated as a taxi, and a period ad. When I saw it from a distance I had to see if it really was and made a...

    Body bolts

I have a body bolt kit from Snyder's, but I am a little confused about what is what. I didn't document the originals, unfortunately, so I can't go by that. So, I know the carriage bolts go in the square holes in the front end, but the rest confuse me. Especially the short, narrower bolts. I...

    Brake Rod Length

I am having trouble with my front brake rods. I am figuring the cross shaft arms are set vertically at rest. And with the rod eyes set to 51.5" it won't reach. And to make it reach I don't really have much rod left. Does anyone know what is going on here?

    Rear Fender "Nuts"

I am trying to find replacements for some threaded pieces from my rear apron for attaching the fenders. I think they are called d-nuts, is that correct? I have seen similar parts on Snyder's, but none explicitly for that area, so I am unsure.

    Wood Kit

I will be needing wood for my 60-C. Does anyone have recommendations for where to purchase one? I know a little about Fordwood; does anyone have anything to share about them? Thank you.

    60-C Body Wood Drawings

Does anybody have drawings or photos of the body wood in a 60-C? I would like something model-specific to refer to when inspecting my car, in case there are differences, which I assume there are. I apologize for not replying right away, I don't have internet access from my house now. Thanks a lot.

    Nuts

These are the front hub nuts which were on my car, but they don't seem to fit. Are they the wrong nuts or am I missing something to take the space?

    Mounting tires

Are there any special tricks or tips on mounting the tires onto the wheel? A 21" wheel particularly.

    What is this?

I cannot find this part in the shop manual. It was on the spindle when I was disassembling the car. I think it was between the inner bearing and the base. I seem to have only found one so I don't know if this was supposed to be there or if someone else added it. Hopefully someone can tell me...

    1929 Headlight Parts

I would like some information on the parts I would need to look for to build some '29 headlights. I figure I might be more likely to find original parts than whole original light assemblies. So, I know what the outer part looks like but I need to know some of the finer details. Such as, what...

    Motor Mount Curiousity

I removed my front motor mount and found some bright areas through the paint. My first thought was I scratched through the metal but it was smooth. So I brushed off the paint and found this. Cacey

    Cadmium plating substitute?

It is my understanding that cadmium plating is expensive, and as I am building a driver rather than a fine points car I am considering an alternative. If I understand correctly cadmium was used for durability so I was thinking zinc plating could be a good substitute, but I don't know what the...

    Radiator Mounting Holes

The front cross member of a frame has slotted holes to mount the radiator. Is this normal for a certain year or such? If it matters, the slot runs parallel to the cross member. Cacey

    Spring Bolt Length

I bought these bolts from Snyder's, which I understand carries quality stuff, but I am concerned about the length of the bolts. I am worried about the bolts ramming into their respective axles while driving. The front spring bolt protrudes 3" from the bottom leaf and the rear bolt 4" from the...

    Control Rods

I'm just a little curious about how (if at all) to keep the control rods from scratching the paint on the top of the steering column. Is there no way to avoid it? I'm not too concerned about fixing my current problem but I would like to know for future reference. Cacey

    Steering Wheel Fit

I am having trouble fitting a steering wheel to the shaft. It is a reproduction wheel that has "DRAKE" printed on the underside near the base. I don't know if this particular wheel is a bad fit, maybe someone out there has some experience. The splines on the shaft appear to have some burrs (or...

    Police Head?

Based on the information I found searching the forum I assume this head with the "B" cast on it is a police head. Is this correct? Cacey

    Spring lubricant

If I understand correctly, the springs were assembled originally with some sort of graphite paste between the leaves; and the Les Andews book says to use a paint-on dry graphite lubricant. I have heard a few other ideas, and as I will be reassembling my springs soon I want to hear some peoples...

    Tail Light questions

Is the bracket for the teacup light painted or plated? Also, I think I remember hearing that back when Model A's were new you could have the dealer install a 2nd tail light. Anyone know anything about that? Cacey
