Snyder's Head Gasket Recommendations or Feedback?

I found water in my oil (fortunately before starting it). Looks like I need to change the Head Gasket. So I'm going to drop the Oil Pan and clean it out, swab the bottom end while the Oil Pan is off, and change the Oil Pan and Head Gaskets. Are there any recommendations or feedback about the...

    Model A Club de Mexico

My job as an Airline Captain takes me to Mexico every so often. Last week I happened to be there when there was a "car show" taking place and there were a few Model A's there. Pretty Cool.

Need a little help with Rear Main Leak

I'm resurrecting my family's Model A and the engine has a "bad" Rear Main Leak. I don't know the "full" history of the engine so I don't know if it has Babbitt Bearings or Insert Bearings. My questions are ....... After dropping the Oil Pan, can I remove "just" the Rear Main Bearing Cap (by...

Confused and Concerned about Rear Main Leak

Finally got my Model A Running and Street Legal. But it leaks a lot of oil from the Cotter Pin below the Flywheel Housing when I drive it on the road. It does not leak when just idleing in the garage. I dropped the Oil Pan to take a look at the Drain Tube that several people have talked about...

    Choice of Oil Pan Gasket?

I've got a bad (paper) oil pan gasket leak and need to order one. I've noticed the replacement choices are cork or paper. I've searched and read the threads about details and installing the oil pan gasket, but which one are most of you guys using and why. Also which vendor? What are your...

    Can an Ammeter be fixed?

I know reproduction Ammeters can be bought for about $8.00 from the vendors, but I'd like to keep using the one in my Model A for sentimental reasons. Any way....... My Ammeter will show a charge of 4 Amps with the battery disconnected and the needle is pegged at full charge 20 amps with the...

Exhaust Manifold Was Glowing a Little

Finally got my Model A to stop backfiring and I was feeling pretty good. I got out to look and listen to the engine and bask in my glory when I noticed the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe clamping area beginning to start glowing orange/red a little. Of course I immediately shut it down...

    Wiring Diagram Clarification

Does the wire going from the Generator Cut-Out Relay to the Junction Box connect to the BATT or ARM side of the relay? Or is it one of those things that makes no difference because the relay is not sensitive to polarity? Thanks.

    Bad Ampere Gauge?

I just spent all day installing new wires from the new battery to the new coil and distributor. I followed the instructions to a "T". The result = Starter won't even crank. I re-traced the instruction diagram again and everything was connected as it should. Could a bad ampere gauge prevent...

    X's on the engine number???

Sometimes I see Model A's with a thin "X" over or under the digits of the engine numbers. I can't tell if the thin X's are stamped over the digits or if the digits are stamped over the X's, but the digits were still clearly visible. Does anyone know why? Or know what this means?

    Who installs "your" tires?

Hello, I'm restoring a family Model A that's been in storage since the early 80's. As for installing tires......What do most of you guys do? Do you take your wheels and tires to a place like Discount Tire and hope they get it right? Or do most of you do it yourself to reduce the risk of...

Question about Body Blocks on '29 Roadster

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I bought a Block Kit to replace the Body Blocks on my '29 Roadster. The kit is advertised to be for a Roadster or a Phaeton. The blocks at the most aft position in the kit appear to be correct for a Phaeton, but the assembly instructions show a...
