    Mechanical fuel pump

Mechanical pump is not pumping fuel. It is basically new. I also have electric airtex 6 volt pump that was used only when vehicle not used for awhile. It all worked fine on original engine. Swapped eng to a 59A with an Edlebrock intake. Had put the push rod for aluminum intake in and rotated...

    temp guages sending units...

So I have a '37. Replacing engine with a '46 with Edelbrock heads. The car is still 6 volt. I do not believe the sending unit from 37 fits in the Edelbrock heads. The Edlebrock heads have the 1 and 2 wire sending units which I believe are a pipe thread? (Different than the thread on '37 heads?)...

    head bolt/nut washers

I have read to make sure to use hardened washers under the head bolts especially with aftermarket aluminum heads. Are the washers that the old Ford parts stores sell hardened, stainless, chrome? I want something that will look good on a polished head...If they are just hardened steel won't they...

Paint removal without harming polished head

Picking up engine this week. Any good way to remove paint from the polished head without messing up the polished finish? Or do I just clean real good and paint over existing paint? Color either black or dark green but leaning black. Was painted between fins... in case my pic does not post.

    checking rod and main bearings

I have read several threads where it has been said that many times the floating rod bearings are reusable. Before I pull engine apart can I/should I plastigage the bearings to check for wear (besides visual inspection)? I'm sure that best way would be to mic everything but I do not have mics...

So my stock 37 21 stud is burning oil. Runs good decent compression. I call H&H to inquire about how much $ for a stock rebuild job... Boy they are proud of their work. I understand they do good work but wow! No wonder why so many people toss the flathead aside and put in a 350. Is their...

    Mechanical fuel pump

Are the different style pumps interchangeable? I am not going for 100 % original here so that does not matter. I have the pump with the glass bowl. Napa sells the other style but they are currently not available from what they tell me. Also are all the new ones from the various old Ford parts...

    Battery Cables

I thought I would get new battery cables so I ordered from Joe's Antique Auto Well the arrived and they are from Vintique :( They appear to be a lot smaller in diameter than my originals. I am still running 6 volt system and believe that it is best to have larger diameter cables. Thoughts...

Ok my 21 stud engine is out of the car. (had some unfortunate clutch/trans input shaft issue with swap as well as a welch plug leak and front seal and rear engine oil pan leak.
