Mallory Dual Point for Sm. Block Ford

Older Mallory dual point # YC449 HP. Detroit made. Everything feels tight and the guts are all there. Has a lot of scuffs from years of storage, but nothing a little elbow grease and polish can't fix. This would be great for that period perfect Sunbeam Tiger or Shelby racer. 260-289-302...

    48-52 F1 Dennis Carpenter Fenders

I hadn't seen any reviews of these, so I thought I'd post one. The fender is perfect in every way. DC put out an excellent product. My truck, in spite of being in rough shape when I got it, was pretty original. The shape and stamping is perfect compared to an original. I only have two gripes...

    Suggestion! FAQ section

This place, particularly the Early V8 forum could use a 'frequently asked questions' section. So many of the same questions pop up. Maybe start encouraging a 'Tech' section.

F-1 Owners: Door weatherstrip. Any good?

I've been debating whether or not to replace the weatherstrip that runs the preimeter of the doors. Mine is not in great shape, but I've had nothing but bad luck with reproduction products for this truck, especially the rubber stuff. Anyone done this recently? What was your experience?

    Flathead's Done!

Just wanted to post a picture of my final product. Seems like it took forever. The hardest part was cleaning the 65 year old grease off of all the parts I re-used. Finally got it dialed in. .125 over, stock stroke Schneider 254F cam Zephyr springs Edelbrock Heads, Intake, and Carb Bubba's...

    How to measure clutch?

I just yanked the motor out of my F1. I was wondering if there's an easy way to tel what size clutch I have. It's an 8ba with the old 4 speed non synchro. I think I read somewhere you can measure the diameter between the clutch fingers but I can't seem to find the post. Thanks everyone!

    F-1 Gauge cluster 12v Questions

I'm going to be converting my gauges over 12 V this weekend via the Runtz diodes. Theres a series of bars that connect 3 of the gauges together (all but the ammeter). Will I need to remove these bars? What exactly do they do? Thanks

4 speed to 3 speed swap in 1948 Ford F-1

Hello all, I've got the non-synchro four speed in my truck, and this weekend I'll be going to look at a HEAVY DUTY 3 speed for my truck. The gentleman says that the 4 speed and the HD 3 speed share the same drive shaft. Is that true? Are there any other parts I need to gather to make it a...

    Ain't she pretty

Just picked up my Flathead from the machine shop at long last. 8BA block .125 over with 3 3/4" french crank and rods, Schneider 260 cam, stock valves with Zephyr springs and adjustable lifters from Red's. I've got Edelbrock heads and 4 bbl which will go on over the winter. These motors look...

    12V conversion bulb help

Hello all, I'm going to be switching over to 12V soon in my 1948 F1, and was wondering if there was a convenient bulb cross reference list somewhere going from 6 to 12v. I assume tailight bulbs would be 1157 on 12V, but I'm not sure about headlights and dash lights. Thanks for any and all help

    Radiator recommendations

The radiator in my 48 sprung a leak. I've already had it patched a few times so I think it's time I pull the trigger on a new one. I've been pricing new ones and they seem to range from $250 on up to $500. Has anyone had any luck with LMC Truck's radiators? My experience with them has...

    Breather cleaner?

My truck has a ton of blowby and the breather cap is loaded with oil now. I put a new cheapo Chinese one on there about five years ago. I don't mind paying the 12 or so bucks for a new one, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to clean this one out?

    Looking for cam advice

I'm currently having an 8BA rebuilt. So far it is .125 over using Egge pistons & Grant rings using a 3 3/4 crank & rods (New French stuff) I wanted to use a 3/4 race cam. I've been looking at the Schneider cams listed on Red's Headers site. I'm tossed between the 260 which is .355 lift and...
