    What are these striker plates?

I think they’re Ford, but I don’t know. Any ideas? I don’t recall seeing one with a roller like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Difference between types of piston rings

Two questions, basically What is the difference between steel section and expander type piston rings What is the difference between rings for steel pistons only, rings for aluminum pistons only, and rings for both aluminum and steel. I sometimes see a set of rings that says for steel only and...

01Y-4209-B with a copper ring gear?

I found this in a batch of parts from Little Dearborn. 4.85 ratio, part number says it's a 40-52 122" wb 3/4 and 1 ton truck That's not the issue, though. It has a steel pinion but what looks to be a copper ring gear. Maybe I'm just dumb but it seems to me that copper would be inferior to...

    What are these strange Pistons?

I've got 35 of them, obviously used, in a box. One piston has 99A-6108 written on an attached tag. They do match the dimensions for a 3 3/16 bore engine and if I am correct that part number is for a 239, but they are obviously not Ford pistons and don't have any part numbers or identifying...

    Thompson Products information

Haven't been on in a while. My day job as Dirk Pitt has been keeping me pretty busy this year :D Not an old Ford but pretty interesting nonetheless: http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/29/us/savannah-harbor-deepening-civil-war-ironclad/ Anyway, does anyone know of a source for Thompson Products part...

A couple of strange parts, any idea what they might be?

They came with a bunch of 37-40 and shoebox parts. The first one has the part number 7C-1611 but I can't find anything. The second and third, no part numbers. The third looks like a bumper filler - it's about the right size.

OK, it's not a vacuum advance....

Having a hard time identifying this. Part number on the tag is 8A-17604 and it says 49-53. Looks like a vacuum something but is not a vacuum advance. Any ideas?

so I dug this out of the ground today

No, I really did. I'm in the middle of a dig at Jacksonport State Park in Arkansas. Funny how I always find the car parts on these things. We found a leaf spring, a spark plug, and this ring part of a ring and pinion. I don't even know if it's a Ford, but judging by the rest of the stuff...

    What are these?

These showed up with a bunch of used and NOS 38ish body parts - fenders, braces, splash shields, etc. but the business part of the tags is missing. I've combed the diagrams and can't match anything up. Both are about 2 feet long in the longest dimension. I'm guessing somne sort of header or...

1932 Model B running boards, new repro

Repro running boards without covers for 1932 Ford. Part number is B-185. I don't know who made them as there is nothing on the box other than the part number and application and no tags. They have never been installed and so are new in that respect, but they have been sitting around a while...

help me understand Ford part numbers

OK, I understand a lot of it, namely the 4 space prefix such as C1TZ, the middle part which is a specific part and the suffix which is an application (hydraulic lifter vs solid lifter, etc). It's more the prefix numbers that are in the form of 01A, 99A, etc., that I am interested in. I know...

    New guy here

Hi all. I've always owned 60s GM muscle cars, until the last several years when I bought a 1964 Austin Healey 3000 and an 80s Honda which I race in the local autocross. The only Ford I've owned was my 1994 Escort daily, which I'd still be driving today had we not needed a larger car when we...
