    Smooth Shifting The Model A

I am the newsletter editor for our model A club, the Fairfield County (CT) A's. I have written this short article to help members who may be having trouble smoothly shifting their model A. Since I certainly do not want to give members bad information I am first posting the article here for fact...

    Model A horn question

What size is the screw that holds the horn cover on the model A horn (mine is a Stewart Warner)? It looked like a 10-32, but it is not. The thread count is 32, the size is however, slightly smaller. What do I care? Because removing the horn cover for cleaning and lubrication is something that...

Need strange lower distributor cap ID

During the winter, when it is too cold to work in the garage, I enjoy restoring model A parts in the comfort of my warm basement workshop. So I picked up this "lot" of distributor caps for 20 bucks on E-bay to play with. (picture 1) One of them was strange. It had very large brass connectors on...

29 Tudor pinstripe - wrong & now right!

My 29 tudor had a pinstripe when I bought it. (picture 1) It was wrong. Notice how the stripe goes up the "C" pillar moulding, with a smooth curve toward the back, and a sharp angle toward the front. Again that was wrong. It was no problem since they were going away as I repainted the car. Once...

    Hidden Turn Signal Bracket.

I had to make a bracket to mount a small turn signal switch (to replace the big ugly switch attached to my steering column with a hose clamp) behind the dash rail of my 29 tudor. I made a video of the process since it may help others with the same idea. Click here to see it.

    Bad batch of parts

I ordered wire clips from Bert's to secure the wires going back to my new rear turn signal lights. Unfortunately when I went to install them, I found them to be useless. Here it the email I sent Bert's: I am emailing you to let you know you may have a problem with one of your suppliers. I just...

LED Tail Light Saga Part 2

When we last left this story I had decided to simplify my life and instead of worrying about diodes and directing the flow of electricity I would just install separate rear turn signal lights like I had in the front. This would completely separate the turn signal circuits from the regular wiring...

Need help with LED tail lights

Ok. So spent all day working on my tail lights without success. I ordered replacement taillights that were already set up with LEDs. The left tail light had stopped working at all. The good news is that I got that one working working. It was a bad ground. I just ran a ground wire from one of the...

    Tail Light Question

I am working on the tail lights of my 29 tudor. The lights on it now are amber on top, and red on the bottom. I don't know if they are correct, or something added by someone in the past. Did model A's have amber & red tail lights, or do I have the result of someone's "upgrade"?

    Installing new seatbelts with retractors

OK I started to hate the regular seatbelts in my tudor, which flop out the door when opened, bang against the running board splash shield, and the hang there after the door is closed. So I bought a set of green (my tudor is green) seatbelts with retractors on e-bay. The problem was that my...

    "Gener-Nator"?

Currently I am running a Powermaster alternator/generator look-a-like in my 29 tudor. However it is not a complete solution. The Powermaster is 1 & 1/4 inches larger in diameter than the model A generator. I think they just shipped their V-8 unit with the brackets needed to install on a model A...

    Weird, but interesting carburetor

I picked up this Tillotson carb on E-bay for 10 bucks because it was unlike other Tillotsons I have seen in that it doesn't have a square float bowl, but has a form factor like a Zenith. It was frozen, and I was just going to put it on a shelf in what my wife calls, "my museum"! But then I got...

Time travel link. They are still around!!?

I was doing a search for parts and google came up with a link to the past. I found no real model A parts (they used to have many), but I thought they were long gone!

Boy am I glad I am into model A's!

I have been checking out the Barrett Jackson auction on Velocity, and wow! Some would think that the prices of model A's remaining flat is a problem. Not me! I never thought of my involvement in the model A as an investment, but just as a cool hobby. A hobby I can thankfully still afford to be...

    "What the h*ll is that!"

As I sometimes do I put in a minimum bid in a "grab bag" of model A parts on E-Bay, and won! I got some good model A parts, and some stuff I could not identify. I thought I would put it out there to see if you know what they are. Pictures of the parts (along with one of Steve Martin) are below...

    Crash Pictures?

Hi everyone, I was at my friend’s house last week when he brought out this big stack of old insurance adjuster photos. I offered to scan them all for him, so I have them all in digital form. I could share them here. However they are not all model A pictures. So, what do you think? Share them...
