    Cool Old Gas Station

In West Allis, Wisconsin, (a suburb of Milwaukee) there is historical landmark pagoda style gas station that closed a number of years ago. Thankfully, they did not tear it down. It is now preserved as a little mini-park in the same location. I thought you might enjoy a few pictures I took of the...

    Thank You Ford Barners

In light of the recent unfortunate passing of two of the regular and very knowlegeable Ford Barners, I would like to say thank you to everyone that helps each other out on this site. This is a great group of folks that have taught me, and many others I am sure, a ton of stuff about this hobby...

    Gas Tank Strainer

I find it difficult to fill up the truck with the strainer in the gas tank filler neck. It causes the gas to splash back or shut off the pump. Is this strainer really necessary if I always fill up at a service station? I also have the screen and glass bowl correctly installed, so I am not...

First car show since paint job - Not bad

I entered the pickup in a local Lion's Club car show over the weekend. There were about 250 cars and trucks. For some reason, all the trucks were in 1 class, no matter how old or whether they were modified or not. A bit strange, but oh well. It was a beautiful day and almost every vehicle was...

    Runs Rough at Speed

For the first time since the painting project, we took the truck out for a longer ride at speed, about 10 miles. On the way home, it started to ride very rough around 40 mph and was making kind of a popping or pffft noise from the engine. It also seemed to have a bit less power. Slowed to 35...

    Antifreeze level

Does anyone know what level I am supposed to fill the antifreeze to? I drove around a while today and it starting coming out the overflow. Granted it was a bit warm here. When it finally stopped and cooled down it is just below the baffle in the inlet. Maybe that is where it is supposed to...

    Gas gauge assembly help

The cork appears to have fallen off the gas gauge on my truck. The Les Adnrews book is not very clear about how to remove the assembly. Can anyone describe the process beyond remove the outer ring and lift out the assembly? Does it come out through the tank or through the cab? Any help...

    Battery Jumping Question

Sorry, but this is a bit like yesterday's post. It sounds like it is OK to jump a Model A with all original components (i.e. generator, 6 volt positive ground, etc.) witha 12 volt car or truck battery. Is this true as long as you match polarities? Thanks! Bob

    It started!!!

After our painting project, I finally got the chance to fire it up last evening. To my wife and son's surprise, it fired right up! What a nice sound. Thanks to all of you for your great help over the last few months. I'm going for a spin this evening. I will post pictures of the completed...

    Door Aligment Problem

As you may recall, I completely disassembled the truck for painting and refurbishment. The doors worked fine at that time. Now that I have re-assembled it, the drivers side door was about 1/2" too low at the latch so it would not close. I shimmed the cowl up which fixed the door, but now the...

    Painting Project Update

I was hoping this would be the last update, but I ran into a bit of a snag, but that wil be a separate post. Here are photo's of the truck in its new color scheme. For a first timer like me, I am fairly happy with the end result. I can't wait to take it out and about. Happy 4th! Especially...

I am not sure what is supposed to hold down the metal plate that goes on the floor board around the shifter and emergency brake. Any help or maybe a photo or two would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks and have a great and safe weekend. Bob

    Part ID Help Needed

I need a little help figuring out what this part is for. When I took the truck apart, I religiously labeled every piece of hardware, or so I thought. I have this bracket that seems like I should remember where it goes, but I don't. Any help would would be appreciated. Bob

    Painting Project Update

Well, it has been a while since I posted an update. Progress has been slowed by work and work related travel. (its the darn paycheck thing!) Anyway, all of the parts are now home and painted. We started installing the fenders this evening and hope to put the cab on tomorrow evening. The roof...

    Painting Project Update

Well, it has been a while since I gave you an update on my truck. I am finding out that painting a body is very much a combination of art and science, but am happy to report that finished pieces have started coming back home. Finally! I am finished with everything but the bed and tailgate. I...

    Gunmetal Blue?

As you may recall, I am painting the yellow truck gunmetal blue as it was one of the orginal colors. (During disassembly, coincidentially, I found out that it was this color originally.) The riddle of the day . . . Why is it called gunmetal blue? It is actually a greenish gray color very...

    CCPU body block question

I think I know the answer to this but need to be sure. The 1929 CCPU only has 3 body blocks per side with the front one being kind of long with a curved shape. On my cab, this one is sandwiched between two peices of sheet metal from the cowling. Is there another block (same shape) that goes...

    Painting Project Update

Well, I finally started to spray some paint. After a few minutes of getting used to the gun and the paint, the parts turned out pretty nice. Only one will need to be redone. I also painted the engine. Hopefully this weekend, I may get to the cab and the bed. I am making a stand to hold each...

    Frame Welting Question

Does the frame welting go above or below the splash shields, or both? When I took the truck apart, one side had it both above and below the splash shield, and the other only had it below. Thanks! Bob
