    Any Insight To This?

Bought an axle to replace the one bent years ago in a towing mishap (which hits the apron). Any thoughts?

    Stainless Lug Nuts....Stained.

Anyone ever have stainless steel lug nuts rust? Bought 26 from (a vendor) and they came in the raw, unpolished state. Buffed them up on the ragwheel til they looked like new chrome and installed them all. About a week or two later, just from air moisture, they turned cloudy and a number of...

$28.00 Hose Clamps: Are They Worth It?

I have a set of the $6.00 clamps on now and the tabs have "bottomed out" (won't tighten anymore) on themselves and I've developed a leak. I see Bratton's sells a set for 28 bucks supposedly "original gauge". Since I don't know if I've ever seen an original set I cannot tell how much stronger...

Who's Got the Best Spare Covers

Which seller has the most authentic spare tire covers? I got some from a certain supplier and am not overly impressed. They're well made enough, but look nothing like the 30s era ones I've seen. These are smooth Naugahyde--no pattern...looks like a bar stool cover. Maybe they're all the same...

    Inspiring the Next Generation

Brought the ol' girl out to the daughter's Social Studies class today. They're learning about life in the 20s-30s. Every kid had to get inside and there were lots of good questions. Fun time.

    Popout rebuild question

Anyone have any idea about how to separate the tumbler portion of a popout switch from the locking portion? I'm talking about once the tumbler/contact portion is removed from the main body (which is achieved by loosening a setscrew). I was wanting to re-plate the popout and the keyhole cover...

    Help Identifying Electrolock Popout Year

I searched the forums and couldn't find an answer. Can anyone tell me definitively whether I have a 28/29 or a 30/31 popout here? Markings: Electrolock, Phila, PA Basco A965 Thanks in advance! Steve

Little Something For the Town Sedan-ers

Found this in the stuff my dad had collected around the time he bought the '29 in the avatar. Volume 16, Issue 4 Nov./Dec. 1971. Real nice issue on Town Sedans, even a pic and a blurb of a Les Andrews posing with his 29. I think he may have written a book or something about these cars...

    Parts Identification...Any Ideas?

My dad seems to remember this part coming off his 1929 Murray TS. It's nothing I think I have seen before and don't think it's Model A. What say you?

    News Story From Duluth, Minn

    Headlights Dim Randomly

Has anyone else had the issue wherein the headlights dim randomly. I assume it is a loose connection somewhere, but I just finished the resto so the harness is freshly installed and new. Also no taillight when they flicker to dim. Honestly haven't spent much time trying to figure it out yet...

    Aluminum One-Piece Fan. Issue...Maybe...

After reading the numerous posts about the potential failure of the original steel fan I was persuaded to order the one-piece aluminum; this one from Snyder's. Question is: Anyone else have close clearance between the new fan and the inlet pipe on the radiator? I had to add shims to my...

On the Topic of Zinc Running Board Edges

Any surefire way to shine them up? Mine were restored in the 70s and were wrapped in newspaper and got some spotting and white rust on them. Not going to replace them again. Tried rubbing compound. Tried light sanding/steel wool. Thanks, Steve

    Different Cowl Lacing Thicknesses

I swear I have seen this topic before here, but I'll be darned if I can find it again: I have a 29 Murray TS and the hood sits lower (steps down) than the top of the cowl by about 3/16". I see no way of adjusting this. I read here (I'm sure it was here) that the Town Sedans used a thicker...

"Two Bucks and a Can of Gas"

Just finished a good book from a local Minnesota author about his life in the Northwoods and a 1930 Model A pickup. The author learned to drive on the truck, grew up with it, and used it constantly in his pursuits in the Great Outdoors. Not a long read, cheap on Amazon, and a story of how a...
