I see 2 metal staples in each vented side panel. Wondering what Henry put between the chrome grille and each vented side panel on this 40 deluxe grille. Fender welt?

rolled 8,000 miles on my ol original 34 speedo this morn on the way to work. 9 1/2 months of driving. if i dont drive it one day its because its blocked in but ill surely be drivin it the next day.:) havent opened the hood in over 2 months either, infact i dont open the hood until its oil change...
