    Model A valuation

I need someone to look at my 1931 Deluxe Coupe and give me a valuation. I know what the "books" say; that's not what I need. Looking for someone local to the Bridgeport, CT area that has some expertise. I'm willing to pay for time, but I'd like to get someone local so I'm not paying for a...

Can I shut off the entire electrical with the key?

I have an electrical drain I need to track down (it might be the aftermarket turn signal I installed last year), so I have to remember to pull the fuse when I park. Also, I keep leaving the turn signals on, and I worry that I might leave the dome or dash light on and kill the battery. Too many...

    Ratchet nut

My ratchet nut must be worn. The edges on it are not as sharp as a new one (I have a new one in my parts box). The crank slips out easily if I'm hand cranking it. There's not much room in front of the engine - is it possible to change the ratchet nut without removing the radiator? I can't...

    Vintage bumper hitch

A friend came upon this in his garage. Used to belong to his dad. Anyone need one to hook their vintage camper to their vintage car? $50 or best offer shipped (assuming it can go flat-rate box). Steve

    Stolen Model T tools

Hi, this was posted on another board I'm on and since it included Model T tools, I'm re-posing it here: In the southern California area, just to alert collectors, museums, yard-salers, etc. A storage locker in Redlands, California, was broken into and cleaned out of collectible lamps, auto...

    Spark plug base interchangeability

Are the bases on the older multi-piece champion spark plugs interchangeable? Someone has some other plugs (don't have the number yet) that if the bases are original with full knurl will interchange with re-issue 3X, then I might have an original looking set of plugs. Steve

    Turn signal indicator lights

I have a signal-stat type turn signal I just installed (that's a whole thread in itself). Looks sort of like this one: The unit has three of what appear to be windows for indicator lights. There are two small round green ones flanking a larger trapezoidal red one. Mine don't make any light...

    Radiator baffle?

I have heard of a baffle in the upper radiator or filler neck to prevent coolant from going out the overflow pipe due to velocity from the water pump. I don't see anything in mine - I can see the tubes through the filler neck. If I add coolant to cover the tubes, I get overflow, so I'm...

    Highest and lowest mileage cars?

As I hopped into my 180,000 mile Subaru, I though, "who has the Model A with the highest number of documented miles?" Which also brought out the question, who has the loweest? I'm sure the Henry Ford Museum has one that was pulled off the assembly line and driven to the museum, but I'm talking...

    Melted battery terminal

Well, after three nights and a day of prepping the car to be sure it was ready for the parade, the big day comes. I drive to the memorial service at town hall. On leaving, the car seems to take a long time to start. It had done this one or twice the past couple of days, and only when the motor...

    Makeshift flag holder

Needed a quick flag holder for the front of the A, so I took a piece of 2x4, cut it to the curve of the bumper, notched the ends, added some sheet metal brackets to the ends and bolted them on to the bumper clamps. Painted the whole thing flat black. Steve

Any helpful tips for parade driving?

I should be in the parade on Monday. Was wondering if any of you more experienced folks have any tips for driving in a parade? I was thinking that insulating the gas line might be a good idea, given how much time we will be spending slow or stopped. Steve 1931 Deluxe Coupe

    Model A bulb numbers?

I posted this as part of another topic, but I think the people with the answers haven't read the new post, so I'll post a new topic. I'm looking to change the cowl lights to amber for turn signals and needed the bulb number. But even better, and for reference, does someone have a complete...

How to open up cowl lights?

I'm going to use the cowl lights in my '31 Dlx Coupe as front turn signals. I can't figure out how to open them up so that I can change the bulbs! I have a spare cowl light, but it has a screw on the back. The ones on the car have rivets. Didn't want to try prying them off and risk damaging...

Which side of the ammeter for turn signal hookup?

I'm hooking up turn signals, and one of the wires to the flasher runs to the junction box to the wire that goes to the ammeter (with a fuse between). Since both terminals connect to the ammeter, to which side of the box do I hook it up? The car is a 1931 Deluxe Coupe. Steve

    Parade signs

I might be transporting a WWII vet in the parade. I have some information about him, including branch of service and where he fought so I'd like to make a sign for the car. I may just inkjet print it on heavy paper and stick in on with magnetic material, but I was wondering if anyone has come...

    exhaust deflector

I was thinking of adding some kind of exhaust deflector to get the exhaust downward and spread out more so that less gets in the car and rumble seat, and less hits my congressman at the Memorial Day parade (I actually LIKE my congressman, at least the state congressman). Saw one of these on a...

    How to remove coupe seat

I asked the following question in the thread on seatbelts in a coupe, but have not gotten any responses due to the limited nature of the thread, or everyone just plain ignoring me :-) OK, so I've got the car on jackstands and the interior and rumble seat bottom cushions are out. I'm trying...
