1930 Model A Closed Cab Pickup

1930 Closed Cab pickup restored for touring. 12 Volt conversion. Mitchel Overdrive. Runs well but underpowered for highway so I ordered a HC head. Comes with a Snyder 6:1 high compression head and new wiring harness. Neither have been installed. I ran out of time to complete the final...

Drag Link to Pitman Grease Seal 1930 Sport Coupe

Finished installing a new shortened Pitman arm and decided to replace the rubber grease seal. Once all was back together, there is significant space at the rear end of the seal and the drag link opening. Is this normal or was there a different seal originally.

    Help..Drivers Door Latch 30 ccpu

I bought a new door latch from Snyders. Where does the square end on the latch return spring go? Inside the door or just left the way it is and tighten the screws. It seems to cause the latch to bind either way. Are there some adjustments I need to make to the latch? Thanks,

    Temperature Rises after shutdown

I have been working on getting the 30 CCPU more reliable. It only was driven 1000 miles since 2002. I have 250 miles in two weeks. It idles nicely, and runs at 45 to 55 mph very well. Outside temperature about 95, after a 20 minute run at 45 to 50 mph, spark fully advanced, the temperature...

    Steering Wheel removal

What is the next step. Steering wheel has no cracks and the tube is in good shape. I would be willing to sacrifice the steering shaft if necessary to avoid damage to the wheel and tube.

Modern Valve Spring Retainers 30 CCPU

My valve spring compressor arrived from Brattons yesterday and this am went out to remove the rusted spring. It was easy enough to compress the spring, but to my surprise, the retainer is a modern 2 piece. I should have felt the retainer earlier. Further more, I suspect it is rusted to the...

    Steering column Tubes

Is there a difference between the tube used with the late 1929 Gemmer steering gear and the tube used in late 1930. I think the later gear may have been made by Ford.

    Spark and Throttle rods-30 CCPU

Neither of these rods make contact with the friction plate and won't stay in place. Is there a way to tighten them other than removing the steering column? Do they bend or can you bend the plate?

my new 1930 closed cab pickup

Second day with the new vehicle. Changed the oil, and about 6 quarts of water and oil emulsion drained out. Obviously other issues than the compression in cylinder #3. Replaced the Oil and will pull the head tomorrow. The prior owner said that it was running. A member of his local club said...

Just had a 1930 pickup delivered today. It was supposedly rebuild about 1,000 miles ago. Tried to start it, no luck. Changed out the Tillotson with rebuilt Zenith...starts, runs rough. Checked compression, 1,2,4 were 56. #3 was zero. Added oil to #3 still no compression. What's the best...

    Axle Question

I am thinking of replacing my front axle. The spring shackles wore out a pretty deep notch in its early days. I purchased an axle a number of years ago on e-Bay. As I was inspecting it, I noticed unusual galling on the bottom of the spindle bolt holes. Several questions: 1. Any ideas how...
