Howdy Guy's, Does the rear seal HOLDER on an 8BA flathead need to be glued/siliconed in to place to prevent any oil leaks? It doesn't seem practical that it just sits there floating around without allowing oil to seep past it. Thanks to any contributors.

Howdy folks, I am re-assembling our '51 8ba with new replacement main bearings but the center main is soo.... tight that the crank won't turn. The main center bearing cap measures approx .003" shorter in height compared to the front and rear bearing caps. Can I shim the bottom of the center...

Great photos all. I have some remnants of green paint on the '51 timing cover and it appears to be the original paint and a lighter shade of green. Most of the engin had been painted with a metallic type blue paint.

Would that be the Lincoln Green?

Can any of you good fellows post a picture of what "Mercury Green" looks like on a flathead. I have a 1951 Canadian C1BA flathead and my research seems to come up with "Mercury Green" as being the color.

Not too "crazy". I don't have access to any sand blasting equipment so just keen to know the best alternative to remove surface oxidation, dirt & grime and what detergent to use prior to etch priming. BTW beautiful looking chassis you have there Kube.

Could anyone explain how a worn throttle shaft would affect the the tuning on a 7RT/94 carb? Plugs and exhaust always appear sooty black.

Ok, so the internals are the same except for the air horn which will accommodate an oil bath type air filter?
