Does anyone sell a kit or the parts to convert a 40 column to shift an AOD? I'm sure I could make it work, but I think it would save a lot of time to just buy the stuff to make it work.

How can I tell 29 29 headlight bars from 30 31 headlight bars?

I bought the engine disassembled, minus heads, carb, and pistons. I did get the clutch assy. and a v-8 60 transmission. I traded the transmission for the new pistons and rings. the sleeves are quite rusty and pitted.

hey jack the block is standard bore, and I have new .040 pistons.

a local engine rebuilder says that if he bores my V-8 60 block .040 over I need to put sleeves back in. my question is can't the rings run against the cylinder wall of the block? does anyone know of a rebuilder in the Puget sound area that does early engines? thank you wayne

I picked up a 1940 V-8 60 block at a swap meet reciently, and when i got it home and measured the bore it was .120 over. The cost of sleeves is cost prohibative ( for me) and piston makers just laugh at me. Any sugestions as what to do with it, door stop, boat anchor,paper weight.

maybe someone can answer a question for me, is the crankshaft hole in a 37-39 v-8 60 block the same dia. as the 40 block? if can the early block and main caps be linebored to 40 specs? thanks wayne

I have a 1940 v-8 60 that I think was used in a race boat. Stock bore is 2.6 in. this block is bored to 2.810 (thats close a 1/4" over). did they run these motors with that big of bore? How would you keep it from over heating? Who would make pistons for it? Is this the size they bore to to...
