you may have pulled some dirt or something up into the carb when you ran it out of gas and you missed it when you cleaned out the carb. or it could be a bad condenser. I would try a compression check just to make sure the block is up to pressure and you are not having a problem there. I think...
Either place will be ok to get your engine from but I would ask if the block you are going to get had any crack repairs done to it and make sure they maged the block. The other option is to give Bill Barlow a call and he can re pour the babbit in your own block and one of the local club members...
Here is a concept, All Model A's can be a daily if you want them too, I drive mine on a daily basis and there is repairs that need to be done from time to time to keep them on the road.
Oil leaks can be tricky to stop. Get the engine out for sure and have someone who works on engines help you with it that knows. I would still use brass shim stock and cut it into 3/4 by 3/4 squares to check the clearance. there are some other things u can do also that one of your local...
It can be done in the car but is will be a lot harder to do it that way. If you take the engine out and do the adjustment you can look at other things like the valves and the timing gear and the clutch. Remember if you fined a problem in the lower end you will be pulling the engine out any...
Just a quick shout from CA. I hope you saved some of the fun for when you get it out on the road and when you get home you will need to ice up your jaw from smiling so much. Great job on the truck.
In Life if we used everything the way it was produced for we would not find out that it works on stuff the it should not work on. how many times have we taken out a tool from our tool box and used it for a purpose other than intended for and we say that did the trick. The MMO does help the...
Remove the oil pipe and take a skinny punch and knock out the little plug. When you go to reinstall it take a punch and give it a good whack but not to hard and it will set the plug back in the rear main cap.
I would use 8 to 10 oz's for the first tank and thin back of to 4 oz's. You should run 2 or 3 tanks before you will know if it is a valve. If nothing else it will do your car a lot of good to run a upper lube ( MM )
The biggest benefit to using the modern upper plate with modern points and condenser is you will not have to mess with the points ones you have them set up right. There is nothing wrong with the original distributor it just takes more maintenance to keep the points adjusted. enjoy the new one.
Order you new plugs and then you will know the correct drill bits, when you drill them out you will start with a smaller bit and then strep up to a bigger size until the plug spins out and it will spin out easy once you have a big enough drill size.
