    40 coupe for sale/trade

Still for sale. I'll consider all resonable cash offers and trades. In addition to the cars listed in the original ad, I like: 50 buick sedanetts, early falcons, notch-back baracudas, fast-back mustangs etc.

    40 coupe for sale/trade

This is a really nice old style hot rod. Great driver. The engine has less than 2000 miles. the T-5 transmission shifts great and the overdrive makes it nice on the freeway (about 2k RPM at 65 MPH). The trunk has been carpeted and looks decent. The trunk floor is very solid but I don't like how...

    36 Steering Box

dansford, I've removed the steering box from my '36 slantback several years ago. I did it in my garage with jack stands etc. I remember the only part that was kind of tight was getting the light switch rod high enough into the cabin to clear the steering column. It actually hit the head liner...

run out of petrol 2, still no start

I had a similar problem with my stock '36 and after much troubleshooting it turned out the short rubber hose going from the firewall to the fuel pump was deteriorated inside and was collapsing when the pump was actuating. Good luck. Truk

    Stainless steel(rusty)

Hi, 51 merc is right on. Some of the 400 series will in fact rust a bit although not as bad as regular carbon steel. The 300 series (austenitic) stainless series have enough chrome and nickel to keep them in an austinite crystal structure, which will not rust. Martinsite and ferrite stainless...

    Piston to head clearance

I have removed the (edelbrock) heads on my 59 block and found after claying with the head gaskets on, that the clearance averages about 25 thousandths and in a few places it's about 15 thousandths. I have been driving this car for about a year previous to these repairs and have had no obvious...
