    Transmission main shaft issue

And THAT answered my own question of why the danged thing was hung up as soon as I'd tighten any bots (clearly, something was binding) Some careful work on a grinding wheel fixed the problem.

Rebuilt Engine Tag - Thought I'd Share

Update. While painting the block, I found a matching serial number (34334) stamped just below the head, near the front. Pictures here: Serial Number Close-up

Rebuilt Engine Tag - Thought I'd Share

Hey, gang! After a long pause (like, 5 years) I'm back to rebuilding my truck. The engine was previously rebuilt, and I thought I'd share this tag (off the block) with you. http://modela.burke.tv/Pics/20200222/EngineTag1.jpg I can't find any good serial numbers off the block - looks like...

    help with modern valve guides

Reviving an old thread - this is the exact problem I've been trying to find (lord, google is your friend *and* enemy!) SO from the head side, drive them in, small ID first, until the top (larger OD) end is flush with the bottom of the valve cavity?

    Main Bearing Bolts, Nuts, Washers

So, after a long hiatus, I'm finally getting back to working on my truck. I've had the engine machined - old babbits removed (they were shot right square in the butt), and replaced with inserts. The machine shop gave me a set of grade 8 (5?) replacement bolts - anodized, with flat washers...

    Model A Update!

Thanks, I appreciate it! Hopefully it'll give the experts something to laugh about, and maybe be a good lesson in "what not to do" for anyone else!

    Model A Update!

D'oh. Well, I guess they're gonna stay that way. When whoever owns it after me wants to make it a show car, then they'll have somethng to do, right? ;)

Model A/AA Ford Websites...Can YOU add to the list?"

http://modela.burke.tv This is where I put all the work I'm doing on mine. This way I'll be able to remember how to put it back together. And maybe get tips from people who know what in the heck they're doing.

    My "new" truck

Well, a lot has happened over the last year or so... The truck is mostly down to its constituent parts. I'm hoping to get the frame and suspension components blasted & painted some time in the near future. Maybe I'll even be able to get a small piece of my "garage" back shortly after that...

    My "new" truck

Thanks for the offer! You like the color it is now (I dunno if that's original), or the one I'm proposing (Brown/Orange)? Yes, yes, I know, I know... Heresay...

    My "new" truck

Family project. Want to do a full "frame-off" and teach the kids something about cars while I'm at it. Also, I'm pretty sure the head gasket is blown (or worse)... And as far as I've go, so far, I see there's quite a bit of early-stage cancer in there. Early enough that I can fix it.
