May have found my problem to the noise. Dropped the pan and found to my surprise I had an inserted engine, but someone put in full shim packs in each rod. Removed them and plastigaged to 1 thousand, think Ill put it back together and see how she does.

Shorted out #4 noise stopped. Dropped pan, looks excellent but going to check with plastigauge. Did notice timing gear shreaded, need recomendation of type gear to get.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have addressed them all except the oil pump issue. I'll try that next. I will also get a stethoscope to help penpoint the source of the tik.

Make sure rotor is pointed at #1 and not opposite #1 as some instructions say. Opposite does not mean away but towards. Heard of this happening.

Drop it in, set the points, time the engine using standard A procedure.

Thanks for the input. Turns out the voltage was not sufficient with the motor not running. Works with motor voltage output. Probably not a good clean connection somewhere.

Did 30-31 roadsters and pickups come with sill plates? Are they the same as coupes if there are any?
